Geoffrey Kirui
Geoffrey Kipkorir Kirui (Born 16 February 1993) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in cross country running competitions, track and road races up to the marathon. Junior career Kirui won gold in the 10,000 metres at the 2011 African Junior Athletics Championships. He won bronze in the men's 10,000 metres at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics. Senior career At the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, he finished 15th in the senior men's race. Kirui won the 2017 Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds. It was his third marathon. Kirui participated in the 2017 World Championships held in London, winning the gold in the Marathon, with a time of 2:08:27. In 2019, he competed in the men's marathon at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He finished in 14th place. Nyeri
Nyeri is a town situated in the Central Highlands of Kenya. It is the county headquarters of Nyeri County. The town was the central administrative headquarters of the country's former Central Province. 2017 Boston Marathon
The 2017 Boston Marathon was the 121st running of the Boston Athletic Association's mass-participation marathon. It took place on Monday, April 17 (Patriots' Day in Massachusetts). Geoffrey Kirui won the men's race in 2:09:37 and Edna Kiplagat won the women's race in 2:21:52. Kathrine Switzer at age 70 ran the marathon under bib number 261, the same number she had worn 50 years previously in 1967, finishing in 4:44:31. Evans Kiplagat Chebet (born 10 November 1988) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in road races. In September 2019, after finishing in the top six of every marathon he had finished, Chebet won his first international race, the Buenos Aires Marathon, in a time of 2:05:00.
