2018 Chicago Marathon
The 2018 Chicago Marathon was the 41st edition of the annual Chicago Marathon that was held in Chicago, Illinois, United States on October 7, 2018. The men's race was won by Britain's Mo Farah, and the women's race was won by Kenya's Brigid Kosgei. Summary Mo Farah won the 2018 Chicago Marathon with a record time for a European runner of 2:05:11; this was the eighth-fastest Chicago Marathon time. Mosinet Geremew of Ethiopia finished second with a time of 2:05:24. Suguru Osako finished third, setting a Japanese record with a time of 2:05:50. Mo Farah
Sir Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah (born Hussein Abdi Kahin; 23 March 1983) is a British long-distance runner. His ten global championship gold medals (four Olympic and six World titles) make him the most successful male track distance runner ever, and he is the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history. Farah is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medallist in both the 5,000 m and 10,000 m. Bedan Karoki Muchiri
Bedan Karoki Muchiri (born 21 August 1990) is a Kenyan professional long distance runner who competes in track, cross country and road running disciplines. He represented Kenya at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. He was a silver medallist at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, and also in the 10,000 m at the 2011 All-Africa Games. His half marathon best of 58:42 minutes ranks him in the all-time top ten for the distance. Career Bedan Karoki Muchiri was born in Nyandarua. Madison De Rozario
Madison de Rozario, (born 24 November 1993) is an Australian Paralympic athlete and wheelchair racer who specialises in middle and long-distance events. She competed at the 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Summer Paralympics, winning two gold medals, three silver and a bronze. She has also won ten medals (three gold, three silver and four bronze) at the World Para Athletics Championships and four gold at the Commonwealth Games. De Rozario holds the world record in the Women's 800m T53 and formerly in the Women's 1500m T53/54. Personal De Rozario was born on 24 November 1993 and grew up in Perth, Western Australia. David Weir (athlete)
David Russell Weir (born 5 June 1979) is a British Paralympic wheelchair athlete. He has won a total of six gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Paralympic Games, and has won the London Marathon on eight occasions. He was born with a spinal cord transection that left him unable to use his legs. Personal life Weir was born in Wallington, part of the London Borough of Sutton. He cannot use his legs due to a congenital spinal cord transection. As a child he was a talented wheelchair athlete, representing Sutton in wheelchair athletics at the London Youth Games, and won the junior event at the London marathon (the mini wheelchair race) seven times. Marcel Hug
Marcel Eric Hug (born 16 January 1986) is a Paralympian athlete from Switzerland competing in category T54 wheelchair racing events. Hug, nicknamed 'The Silver Bullet', has competed in four Summer Paralympic Games for Switzerland, winning two bronze medals in his first Games in Athens in 2004. In 2010 he set four world records in four days, and at the 2011 World Championships he won a gold in the 10,000 metres and four silver medals, losing the gold in three events to long term rival David Weir. Melanie Myrand (born 7 October 1985) is a Canadian athlete. She competed in the women's marathon event at the 2019 World Athletics Championships. Career Myrand started road racing in 2014. She participated in a 5km (17:44) and in the Montreal Marathon where she did 3:04 to finish in 3rd place. She then specialized on the track to make a comeback on the road in 2017. She did two half-marathons; in Calgary she finished in 1 h 19 min 49 s and took 3rd place, and in Philadelphia, she beat her personal best with a time of 1 h 17. After that, she participated in her second marathon, the Scotiabank Toronto Marathon. She achieved a time of 2 h 39 min 10 s, removing 23 min from her personal best. Joseph Taylor Ward (born December 14, 1993) is an American professional baseball third baseman and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). Ward was raised in Central Florida before moving to Indio, California, where he attended Shadow Hills High School and emerged as a notable baseball prospect as a catcher. Sarah Crouch (22 August, 1989) is an American long-distance runner who has represented Team USA in the marathon. During her collegiate career at Western Washington University, she was an NCAA Division II All-American thirteen times and won the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championship in the 10,000m. Florence Jebet Kiplagat (born 27 February, 1987) is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner. She is a two-time world champion, having won at the 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the 2010 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. She was the world record holder for the women's half marathon with a time of 1:05:09 hours until it was broken by Peres Jepchirchir on 10 February 2017 at the RAK Half Marathon.
