Craibstone Park And Ride
Craibstone Park and Ride is a park and ride facility near Dyce, Scotland. It is one of three such facilities near the city of Aberdeen, the other two being situated at Kingswells and Bridge of Don. History The Park and Ride was expected to open in autumn 2016, but was delayed. On 30 January 2017, the route of the existing Jet 727 bus service was adjusted to serve the new Park and Ride. However, in May 2017 the change was reverted. On 13 June 2017, the waiting room building was opened. The number 16 bus operated by First Aberdeen served the Park and Ride until its withdrawal in 2018 due to low passenger numbers. Usage In 2019, only one bus service called at the facility, the half-hourly number 37. It has since ceased calling at the facility. In 2019, a freedom of information request revealed that an average of 14 cars per day used the Park and Ride in 2017, and eight cars per day in 2018. A park and ride, also known as incentive parking or a commuter lot, is a parking lot with public transport connections that allows commuting, commuters and other people heading to city centres to leave their vehicles and transfer to a bus, Rail transport, rail system (rapid transit, light rail, or commuter rail), or carpool for the remainder of the journey. The vehicle is left in the parking lot during the day and retrieved when the owner returns. Dyce
Dyce ( gd, Deis) is a suburb of Aberdeen, Scotland, situated on the River Don about northwest of the city centre. It is best known as the location of Aberdeen Airport. History Dyce is the site of an early medieval church dedicated to the 8th century missionary and bishop Saint Fergus, otherwise associated with Glamis, Angus. Today the cemetery, north of the airport, and overlooking the River Don, hosts the roofless but otherwise virtually complete former St Fergus Chapel, within which Pictish and early Christian stones from the 7th–9th centuries, found in or around the churchyard, are displayed (Historic Scotland; open at all times without entrance charge). The Chapel is a unicameral late medieval building with alterations perhaps of the 17th or 18th century. The Jet 727 is an airport bus service between Aberdeen bus station and Aberdeen Airport via the P&J Live operated by Stagecoach Bluebird. History The route was introduced by Stagecoach Bluebird in partnership with Aberdeen City Council in August 2010. On 6 May 2016, a newly purchased fleet of Alexander Dennis Enviro400 double-decker buses began operating the route. Previously, the route was operated by single-decker Optare Versas. On 30 January 2017, the route was adjusted to serve the newly opened Craibstone Park and Ride facility. However, in May 2017 the change was reverted due to passenger feedback. On 8 July 2019, 24-hour service was introduced, with an hourly service in the late evening and early morning. The service is the first in Aberdeen to operate 24 hours per day. A90 Road
The A90 road is a major north to south road in eastern Scotland, running from Edinburgh to Fraserburgh, through Dundee and Aberdeen. Along with the A9 and the A82 it is one of the three major north–south trunk roads connecting the Central Belt to the North. Background The creation and development of the A90 road has to be understood in terms of the development of the economy of the North-East of Scotland which had resulted in an increase in traffic along the route between Perth and Aberdeen. A96 Road
The A96 is a major road in the north of Scotland. It runs generally west/north-west from Aberdeen, bypassing Blackburn, Kintore, Inverurie, Huntly, Fochabers and Forres, and running through Keith, Elgin and Nairn. The road terminates at the A9 outside Inverness. Route The road begins with a junction with the A956 near King Street in Aberdeen city centre, as a dual carriageway and goes on to form part of the Mounthooly roundabout.
