The Jet 727 is an airport bus service between Aberdeen bus station and Aberdeen Airport via the P&J Live operated by Stagecoach Bluebird. History The route was introduced by Stagecoach Bluebird in partnership with Aberdeen City Council in August 2010. On 6 May 2016, a newly purchased fleet of Alexander Dennis Enviro400 double-decker buses began operating the route. Previously, the route was operated by single-decker Optare Versas. On 30 January 2017, the route was adjusted to serve the newly opened Craibstone Park and Ride facility. However, in May 2017 the change was reverted due to passenger feedback. On 8 July 2019, 24-hour service was introduced, with an hourly service in the late evening and early morning. The service is the first in Aberdeen to operate 24 hours per day. 747 Aberdeen Airport–Peterhead
The 747 was an airport bus service which ran from Peterhead to Aberdeen Airport via Ellon. History The route was extended south starting on 21 January 2019 to also serve Montrose and Stonehaven, replacing the existing 107 service that operated between the two towns. The extension was added along with a new service, the 757, following public timetable consultations in September 2018. The routes were the first to use the newly opened Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The new services operated on an hourly frequency and used Alexander Dennis Enviro200 single-decker buses. Passenger levels on services 747 and 757 were lower than expected. In August 2019, Stagecoach announced that it would withdraw service 757 completely and revise the route of the 747 to serve Balmedie. Bucksburn
Bucksburn is an suburb of the city of Aberdeen, Scotland, named after the stream that flows through it. The stream is called Bucks Burn. Bucksburn was formerly a market village before being swallowed up by the spread of the city. The area is bordered by countryside, in particular Kirkhill Forest and the land surrounding Brimmond Hill. Bucksburn was one of the first established villages in Aberdeen, in the time of the Harrying of Buchan in 1308, when Robert the Bruce was present in Aberdeen. Woodside, Aberdeen
Woodside is part of the city of Aberdeen. It came into existence as a quoad sacra parish within the parish of Old Machar in 1834, under an act of The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland of 31 May 1834 (IX. Sess. 10, 31 May 1834. – Declaration Enactment as to Chapels of Ease), and was named for the principal residence of the area, Woodside House. Within this parish which was bounded to the north by the River Don there were three villages, Woodside, Tanfield and Cotton (also known as Nether Cottown). Its population in 1841 was 4,893 living in 440 houses. By 1868 it had become a police burgh and the community was being described as a village in its own right (distinct from the quoad sacra parish of which it was the largest part), and a suburb of Aberdeen. Kittybrewster ( gd, Cuidhe Briste) is an area within Aberdeen, Scotland, north of the city centre and roughly south-west of Old Aberdeen. Transport Within the area the A9012 road joins the A978 road; there are also several railway tracks, one of which follows the route of the Aberdeenshire Canal. The name Kittybrewster has been given to three railway stations over the years, including Aberdeen's original main railway station for routes to the north (on the Great North of Scotland Railway). The A96 is a major road in the north of Scotland. It runs generally west/north-west from Aberdeen, bypassing Blackburn, Kintore, Inverurie, Huntly, Fochabers and Forres, and running through Keith, Elgin and Nairn. The road terminates at the A9 outside Inverness. Route The road begins with a junction with the A956 near King Street in Aberdeen city centre, as a dual carriageway and goes on to form part of the Mounthooly roundabout. It then exits Aberdeen to the North West, meeting the A92 at the Haudagain Roundabout, a notoriously busy junction. It then passes Bucksburn, and has a junction with Aberdeen Airport.
