Citizen is an American rock band from Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio that formed in 2009. The band consists of three core members: Mat Kerekes (vocals) and brothers Nick Hamm (lead guitar), & Eric Hamm (bass). They are currently signed to Run for Cover Records, and have released four studio albums to date: ''Youth'' (2013), ''Everybody Is Going to Heaven'' (2015), ''As You Please'' (2017) and ''Life in Your Glass World'' (2021). Considered a part of emo's fourth wave, ''Pitchfork'' have described Citizen as "a band their fans can grow up with rather than out of." Slim's
Slim's was a nightclub and music venue in San Francisco, California, which was opened by Boz Scaggs in 1988. Scaggs and his partners took over a vacant restaurant which was called the Warehouse and threw a party there on December 31, 1987, to celebrate before closing it to remodel, and the new venue opened on September 16, 1988. The club closed permanently on March 18, 2020. History The opening acts at Slim's on September 16, 1988 were Katie Webster, Anson Funderburgh, Delbert McClinton, and 'Presidio Slim' (a.k.a. Boz Scaggs). One of Scaggs's business partners is Frank Caufield, senior partner in the venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers. The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir first performed their Christmas Eve concert at Slim's in 1988; since then, the choir has returned every Christmas Eve as a Bay Area tradition. Youth (Citizen Album)
''Youth'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Citizen, released June 11, 2013 on Run for Cover Records. Background and production Citizen formed in 2009 with members located in Michigan and Ohio. The group released a handful of singles and an EP, ''Young States'' (2011). In March 2012, it was announced the band signed to Run for Cover. Citizen entered Studio 4 with producer Will Yip ( Title Fight, Circa Survive, Braid), in February 2013, to record their debut album, ''Youth''. Composition ''Youth'' has been described predominantly as emoCarter 2014, p. 53 and grunge, but has also variably been labeled indie rock, punk rock, pop punk and post-hardcore. It drew comparisons to Brand New, Basement, the Story So Far, Transit, Title Fight and Daylight. Lyrically, the release discusses the themes of coming-of-age and adolescent angst. Movements are a post-hardcore band from Rancho Santa Margarita, California, formed in 2015. The band was signed to a record contract with Fearless Records after playing just one show in 2015. They have released an EP, '' Outgrown Things'' (2016), and two albums, '' Feel Something'' (2017) and ''No Good Left to Give'' (2020). ''Feel Something'' peaked at 190 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. The Story So Far is an American pop punk band from Walnut Creek, California, formed in 2007. They are currently signed to Pure Noise Records and have released 4 studio albums. History Formation and early releases (2007–2010) The Story So Far formed in Walnut Creek, California in 2007. Their name is taken from the New Found Glory song "The Story So Far". ''As You Please'' is the third studio album by American rock band Citizen. The album was released on October 6, 2017 through Run for Cover Records. On October 24, 2018, Citizen uploaded a song that was not used on the album, "Open Your Heart", through the Run For Cover Records YouTube channel. In May 2018, the group embarked on a co-headlining US tour with Basement; they were supported by Pronoun and Souvenirs. Critical reception ''As You Please'' was well-received by most contemporary music critics. ''Everybody Is Going to Heaven'' is the second studio album by American rock band Citizen. The album charted within the top 20 on various ''Billboard'' charts. Background The group announced they were in the process of recording their next album on January 5, 2015. ''Everybody Is Going to Heaven'' was recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, with producer Will Yip. He was assisted by engineer Colin Gorman; Yip and Vince Ratti mixed the recordings. Ryan Smith mastered the album at Sterling Sound in New York City. Hostage Calm was an American punk rock band from Wallingford, Connecticut, United States, formed in 2007. Hostage Calm released two extended plays, four full-length albums, and a split with punk band Anti-Flag. You Blew It! was an American emo quintet based in Orlando, Florida. The band was formed in 2009 by Tanner Jones, Timothy Flynn, and Matt Messore.
