Chilean Superclásico
The Chilean Football Derby (''El clásico del fútbol chileno'') is a rivalry in Chilean football. It is contested between Colo-Colo and Universidad de Chile. Colo-Colo is the most popular football club in Chile and though its supporters can be found in volumes through all socioeconomic strata, it has been traditionally linked to the working class. Sporting achievements since its foundation in 1925 and specially the death of its captain and founder David Arellano in 1927 gave Colo-Colo a huge fan base. However, since the 60's, its once unrivaled supremacy has been put to test with the up-rise of Universidad de Chile and its long-remembered Ballet Azul team. Representing varsity values and the middle class, Universidad de Chile has seen an increase in its popularity, with who take pride in their fidelity, having endured long droughts without trophies and even relegation from the top tier. Santiago (, ; ), also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. Club Social y Deportivo Colo-Colo () is a Chilean professional football club based in Macul, Santiago. Founded in 1925 by David Arellano they play in the Chilean Primera División, from which they have never been relegated. The team has played its home games at Estadio Monumental David Arellano since 1989. Colo-Colo is regarded as the most successful club of Chilean football. Club Universidad De Chile
Club Universidad de Chile () is a professional football club based in Santiago, Chile, that plays in the Primera División. Founded on 24 May 1927, Universidad de Chile is one of the most successful and popular football clubs in Chile, having won the league title 18 times. In the last 10 years, the team has been crowned champion six times, including their undefeated run to the 2011 Copa Sudamericana title. The team has been associated with the colour blue throughout its history, blue is present on the logo, which was officially adopted in 1943. 2023 Chilean Primera División
The 2023 Chilean Primera División, known as Campeonato Betsson 2023 for sponsorship purposes, is the 93rd season of the Chilean Primera División, Chile's top-flight football league. The season began on 20 January and is scheduled to end on 10 December 2023. Colo-Colo are the defending champions. Teams 16 teams take part in the league in this season: the top 14 teams from the 2022 tournament, plus the 2022 Primera B champions Magallanes and the winners of the promotion play-off Deportes Copiapó. Misael Escuti Rovira (20 December 1926 – 3 January 2005) was a Chilean footballer of Italian ancestry, remembered for being the key player with the Chile national team that reached third place in the 1962 FIFA World Cup tournament. ''Garra'' is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. These fish are one example of the "log suckers", sucker-mouthed barbs and other cyprinids commonly kept in aquaria to keep down algae. The doctor fish of Anatolia and the Middle East belongs in this genus. The majority of the more than 140 species of garras are native to Asia, but about one-fifth of the species are from Africa (East, Middle and West, but by far the highest species richness in Ethiopia). The Chilean Primera División (English: First Division) is the top-tier league of the Chilean football league system. It is organized by the ''Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, ANFP''. Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season.
