Channels (band)
Channels is a rock band based in Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 2003. The band features Jawbox and Burning Airlines frontman J. Robbins, as well as bassist Janet Morgan and drummer Darren Zentek of Kerosene 454 and Oswego. Channels features Morgan on co-lead and backing vocals-- giving the band a melodic approach to the vocals. Channels features Robbins' most lyrically political writing. Robbins and Zentek also currently perform with Vic Bondi as Report Suspicious Activity. Both musicians released an EP as Office of Future Plans (along with Brooks Harlan and Gordon Withers) and have released material on DeSoto Records and Dischord Records Dischord Records is a Washington, D.C.-based independent record label specializing in punk rock. Doo Wop
Doo-wop (also spelled doowop and doo wop) is a genre of rhythm and blues music that originated in African-American communities during the 1940s, mainly in the large cities of the United States, including New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Baltimore, Newark, Detroit, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles. It features vocal group harmony that carries an engaging melodic line to a simple beat with little or no instrumentation. Lyrics are simple, usually about love, sung by a lead vocal over background vocals, and often featuring, in the bridge, a melodramatically heartfelt recitative addressed to the beloved. Harmonic singing of nonsense syllables (such as "doo-wop") is a common characteristic of these songs. Maryland

Jawbox
Jawbox is an American alternative rock band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1989 by J. Robbins (vocals/guitar), Kim Coletta (bass), and Adam Wade (drums). After the trio released the album '' Grippe'' in 1991, Bill Barbot (guitar/vocals) joined as the fourth member. Jawbox released their second album ''Novelty'' in 1992, followed by Wade being replaced by Zach Barocas that same year. Jawbox signed to the major label Atlantic Records and released their third album '' For Your Own Special Sweetheart'' in 1994, which spawned the band's most recognizable song "Savory". After the release of their fourth album '' Jawbox'' in 1996, the band departed from Atlantic, and subsequently disbanded in 1997. Burning Airlines
Burning Airlines was an American rock band from Washington, D.C. J. Robbins and Bill Barbot of Jawbox formed the band with Peter Moffett (formerly of Government Issue) in 1997. The band released two full-length albums, a self-titled 7", and split releases with At the Drive-In and Braid. The band's name is taken from a Brian Eno song, "Burning Airlines Give You So Much More" from his 1974 album '' Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)''. History Robbins and Barbot had jammed with Moffett while their band Jawbox was still active, briefly considering him to fill in after drummer Zach Barocas' departure. However, this lineup was not to be, and Jawbox called it quits shortly thereafter. Kerosene 454
Kerosene 454 was a punk rock band from Washington, D.C. They formed in 1992. The core of the group, brothers John and Jim Wall along with Erik Denno, went through a number of drummers before hooking up with Darren Zentek in time to record their 1st LP, ''Situation At Hand''. This lineup continued to tour and record for 5 years, releasing the LPs ''Came By To Kill Me'' in 1996 and ''At Zero'' in 1998, both of which appeared on the Slowdime Records label (in conjunction with Dischord Records Dischord Records is a Washington, D.C.-based independent record label specializing in punk rock. Vic Bondi
Vic Bondi is an American singer-songwriter and one of the founding members of political Chicago hardcore punk band Articles of Faith. He went on to form Alloy, and Jones Very after AoF's demise. At the time of AoF's original breakup Bondi was working as a history instructor at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Bondi's subsequent day jobs included working on Microsoft's Encarta as well as other projects in educational and media software.
