''Urbanus'' is a genus of skipper butterflies erected by Jacob Hübner in 1807, placed to subtribe Eudamina. Species of the genus are found from the southern United States to South America. Taxonomy The genus has been subject to several revisions, one of which led to the type genus of subfamily Eudaminae, genus ''Eudamus'', becoming a junior synonym of ''Urbanus''. As a result of genome analysis of the Eudaminae, several species formerly considered part of ''Urbanus'' have been transferred to other genera, including to '' Cecropterus'' and '' Spicauda''. ''Nicephellus'' is a monotypic genus of Neotropical butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, in which it is placed in tribe Phocidini. Pyrgini
The Pyrgini are a tribe in the skipper butterfly subfamily Pyrginae. Formerly, when only four tribes of Pyrginae were recognized, the Pyrgini contained the largest number of genera among these. But this overly wide delimitation has since turned out to be paraphyletic.Brower & Warren (2007) One of the traditional Pyrginae tribes, the Eudamini, had to be raised to subfamily rank as Eudaminae. Some genera now in the Eudaminae were placed in the Pyrgini in earlier times. In addition, a number of additional tribes – Achlyodidini, Carcharodini and Erynnini – are now usually recognized again.
