Czech Baseball Extraliga is a baseball league and the highest level of baseball in the Czech Republic. The league started in 1979, when Tempo Praha won the first championship. In 2020, the Extraliga was one of the first sports leagues in Europe, and the first major baseball league in the world, to restart following lockdowns concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". Třebíč
Třebíč (; german: Trebitsch; yi, טרייביטש Treybitsh) is a town in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 34,000 inhabitants. The beginnings of the town's history are connected with the establishment of a Benedictine monastery, where the castle is located today. Hluboká Nad Vltavou
Hluboká nad Vltavou (; until 1885 ''Podhrad'', german: Frauenberg) is a town in České Budějovice District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 5,400 inhabitants. TJ Tempo Praha
Tempo Praha is a baseball club in the Czech Republic, which has changed its name in recent years. While initial founding of the club dates back to 1963, the club in its current standing was founded in 2001 by joining two former baseball clubs VSK Tegola Chemie Praha and Tempo Praha. Since the 2005 season, the club has played under the name Tempo Titans Praha, and through the 2008 season, the club played in the Extraliga under the name of their general partner, Tegola Titans Praha. In 2009, the A team finished last in the Extraliga, then lost in relegation series to drop to the second division after 17 seasons of participating in the Extraliga. Eagles Praha
Eagles Praha is a baseball team from Prague, Czech Republic. The team plays in the Czech Extraliga. History The club was established on 3 February 1981 in the Krč district of Prague as TJ Sokol Praha 4 – Krč. In 1984, the club built its current facilities in a piece of land in Krč. In 1991, the team changed its name to Sokol Krč. In 2000, the organization signed a sponsorship agreement with Altron, a Czech technological supplier, and changed its name to Krč Altron in 2001. For the 2009 season, the club dropped the sponsor title and changed its name to Eagles Praha. The Eagles have never won the Extraliga title, but were runners-up in 1999, 2004, 2012 and 2019.
