Col Du Petit Ballon
The Col du Petit Ballon (elevation ) is a mountain pass in the Vosges Mountains in the Haut-Rhin department of France, close to the summit of the Petit Ballon mountain (). It was crossed on Stage 10 of the 2014 Tour de France cycle race. 2022 Tour De France Femmes
The 2022 Tour de France Femmes (officially Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift) was the first edition of the Tour de France Femmes, one of women's cycling's two grand tours. The race took place from 24 to 31 July 2022, and was the 16th event in the 2022 UCI Women's World Tour. The race followed years of campaigning by the women's professional peloton for an equivalent race to the men's Tour de France, after historic attempts failed due to financial difficulties, limited media coverage and trademark issues. Le Markstein
Le Markstein is a winter sports station in the Vosges mountains in France situated at an altitude of between and which is located on the Route des Crêtes. It forms a set of cross-country skiing with the Breitfirst ski-station and the Grand Ballon. The highest point is the summit of the Jungfraukopf. The station staged World Cup skiing in 1983 and 1987 and World Cup Paragliding in 1999. The roads through the station are also used from time to time by the Tour de France cycle race, including twice in 2014. La Planche des Belles Filles () is a ski station in the Vosges Mountains, in France. It is located in the Haute-Saône département. Since 2012, the climb to the summit has been used several times during the Tour de France cycle race. Etymology and legend The name ''Belles Filles'' literally means "beautiful girls", but is actually derived from the local plant life. The mountain is attested from the 16th century as ''lieu peuplé de belles fahys'', a "place inhabited with nice beech trees" in the local dialect. ''Belles fahys'' later became corrupted into ''Belles Filles'', though there remains a nearby village of Belfahy. Meanwhile, ''Planche'', "board", is derived from the nearby small town of Plancher-les-Mines. The 2023 Tour de France will be the 110th edition of the Tour de France. It will start in Bilbao, Spain on 1 July and end with the final stage at Champs-Élysées, Paris on 23 July.
