Christy Connery
Christopher J. Connery (born 20 October 1967) is an Irish former hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Cork, Connery first played competitive hurling during his schooling at the North Monastery. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1987 championship and became a regular member of the team over the next few seasons. Connery won one All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level Connery is a three-time county club championship medalist with Na Piarsaigh. Throughout his career Connery made 3 championship appearances. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1991 championship. Na Piarsaigh GAA
Na Piarsaigh are a hurling and Gaelic football club based in the north side of Cork City, Ireland. History Formation In 1943 a group of idealistic young men drawn mostly from the hurling nursery of North Mon laid the foundations of Cumann Iomana & Peile Na Piarsaigh. The group had its first formal meeting in the presbytery of the North Cathedral. The young men called upon one of their teachers, Donnacha Ó Murchú, for guidance and assistance. This led to him becoming the first ''Uachtarán'' [president] of the club, with Derry Terry serving as ''Runaí'' [secretary] and Paddy Sutton as ''Cisteoir'' [treasurer]. In choosing a name for the club the members sought one which would reflect their aims and ideals. The Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Martin Naughton (hurler)
Martin Naughton (born 1964) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played senior hurling with his local club Turloughmore and with the Galway senior inter-county team in the 1980s and 1990s. Early life Martin Naughton was born in Turloughmore, County Galway in 1964. He was educated locally at Cregmore national school where he was first introduced to the game of hurling. Naughton later attended the Presentation College in Athenry where he won a county school's medal. He later worked in the marketing department of a local oil company. Playing career Club Naughton played his club hurling with his local Turloughmore club and enjoyed much success. Ger Cunningham
Gerard Cunningham (born 30 August 1961) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who played for Cork Senior Championship club St Finbarr's. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 20 years, during which time he lined out as a goalkeeper. Unchallenged in the number one position for his entire career, Cunningham is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. Cunningham began his hurling career at club level with St Finbarr's. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 17-year-old in 1979 and had his first success the following year when the club won the 1980 Munster Club Championship. Birr, County Offaly
Birr (; ga, Biorra, meaning "plain of water") is a town in County Offaly, Ireland.
