Claughaun Gaelic Athletic Club ( ga, CLG Chlochán) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club within Limerick GAA, based in St Brigid's parish on the southside of Limerick City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1902, in the Poulin/Pennywell area of St John's parish. It has considerable success over the years in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club grounds are located on the Childers Road, at what has become a prominent venue for games of all levels. The club was relegated to intermediate status in both football and hurling following the 2010 championships. Christy Connery
Christopher J. Connery (born 20 October 1967) is an Irish former hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Cork, Connery first played competitive hurling during his schooling at the North Monastery. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1987 championship and became a regular member of the team over the next few seasons. Connery won one All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level Connery is a three-time county club championship medalist with Na Piarsaigh. Throughout his career Connery made 3 championship appearances. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1991 championship. The 1987 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 24th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. The championship began on 12 April 1987 and ended on 21 June 1987. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions. On 21 June 1987, Limerick won the championship following a 2-15 to 3-06 defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. This was their very first All-Ireland title. Anthony Cunningham
Anthony Cunningham (born 16 June 1965) is a former hurler who has since managed various Gaelic football and hurling teams. He was manager of the Galway county hurling team between 2011 and 2015 and of the Roscommon county football team between 2018 and 2022. He is the only manager to lead a football team and a hurling team to provincial titles in two different provinces. Born in Peterswell, County Galway, Cunningham was raised in a hurling stronghold in the south of the county. He was a two-time Connacht medallist at colleges level with Our Lady's College while simultaneously joining the St Thomas's senior club team. The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland.
