Chris Haslam (basketball)
Chris Haslam (born 27 May 1974 in Southport, England) is a British basketball coach and former player. He played at the University of Wyoming in NCAA Division I in the mid 1990s. He has spent spells all over Europe, with Apollon Patras BC in Greece, RBC Verviers-Pepinster and Euphony Liège in Belgium, Mitteldeutscher BC in Germany and for the last three seasons, Pallacanestro Messina, Teramo Basket and Basket Trapani in Italy. He also played for Everton Tigers in the British Basketball League. Teramo Basket was a professional basketball club that is based in Teramo, Italy. Established in 1960, Teramo played in the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA), Italy's top league, for 10 years before they were moved to the Serie B. The team played at PalaScapriano. The River Mersey () is in North West England. Its name derives from Old English and means "boundary river", possibly referring to its having been a border between the ancient kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria. British Basketball League
The British Basketball League (BBL) is a men's professional basketball league in Great Britain and represents the highest level of play in the countries. The league is contested by 10 teams from England and Scotland. There are no clubs however from Wales or Northern Ireland. The BBL runs three additional knockout competitions alongside the BBL Championship which are the BBL Cup, the BBL Trophy and the end-of-season BBL Play-offs. The BBL sits above the National Basketball League and the Scottish Basketball Championship which effectively form the second tier of British basketball. There is currently no automatic promotion or relegation between the English and Scottish leagues and the BBL because of the franchise system in use in the BBL although several clubs have been successful in making the step up from the EBL in recent years. Everton Tigers
The Mersey Tigers were a professional basketball team based in the city of Liverpool, England. The club was established in 2007 as a start-up franchise of the British Basketball League, the country's elite competition. The Tigers started competing at the start of the 2007–08 season, and won the BBL Cup in their second season as well as finishing as runners-up in the league. In 2013 it was officially announced that the Tigers franchise had been withdrawn from the BBL due to financial difficulties that had plagued the club throughout the previous season, which resulted in the Tigers becoming the first ever BBL club to complete an entire season without a single victory. Pallacanestro Trapani, known for sponsorship reasons as 2B Control Trapani, is an Italian professional basketball team that is based in Trapani, Sicily. Pallacanestro Messina was an Italian professional basketball team based in Messina, Sicily. History Established in 1976, the club was admitted to the first division Serie A for the 2003-04 season after Virtus Bologna was excluded for financial irregularities. Messina struggled on every front during that season, finishing dead last in the league whilst suffering from financial problems and a lack of interest from the public.
