Children's Railway
A children's railway or pioneer railway is an extracurricular educational institution, where children interested in rail transport can learn railway professions. This phenomenon originated in the USSR and was greatly developed in Soviet times. The world's first children's railway was opened in Gorky Park, Moscow, in 1932. At the breakup of the USSR, 52 children's railways existed in the country. Many children's railways are still functioning in post-Soviet states and Eastern European countries. Many exhibit railway technology not seen anymore on the main lines and can be seen as heritage railways. Even though few exceptions exist, most children's railways built in the Eastern Bloc have a track gauge of at least and can carry full size narrow gauge rolling stock. Train Ride
A train ride or miniature train consists of miniature trains capable of carrying people. Some are considered amusement rides and some are located in amusement parks and municipal parks. Backyard railroads and ridable miniature railways run on tracks, and especially if the service is provided by a non-commercial hobbyist club, their trains may be exact scale models, often with a live steam locomotive. Some train rides are kiddie rides, which are commercial children's rides that often use simple, colorful equipment with the driving mechanism hidden under vacuum-formed plastic covers. Trackless trains do not use tracks and usually consist of railroad-like cars towed behind an ordinary, or modified motor vehicle. This type of ride is often used for sightseeing tours. Baku Children's Railway
The Baku Children's Railway ( az, Azərbaycan Dövlət Uşaq Dəmir Yolu) was a narrow gauge children's railway in the Azerbaijan capital Baku. It runs through Shakhriyar Park (formerly Dzerzhinkiy Park) on a long line with a gauge of between two terminus stations. The railway was opened on 10 August 1947 as one of the many pioneer railways in the Soviet Union. It was taken out of service and dismantled in June 2009. History The idea of building a children's railway in Baku dates back to 1945 when the decision of the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan on 15 June 1946 defined the beginning and end of the construction of the railway. Construction began on 14 March 1947 and ended on 1 May 1947, the railway line was located in Dzerzhinsky Park (later Shahriyar Park). Pupils and students from Baku also helped to build the railway. Camagüey
Camagüey () is a city and municipality in central Cuba and is the nation's third-largest city with more than 321,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Camagüey Province. It was founded as Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe in 1514, by Spanish colonists on the northern coast and moved inland in 1528, to the site of a Taino village named Camagüey.
