Charles Philipson
Charles Philipson (5 October 1928 – 26 September 1990) was a Norwegian jurist, civil servant (acting Consumer Ombudsman, and director of the Norwegian Competition Authority), and Supreme Court justice. Career Philipson graduated as jurist in 1952. From 1952 to 1953 he was assigned secretary in the Norwegian Price Directorate, and was then assistant judge in Lier, Røyken and Hurum. He then conducted further studies at Harvard Law School, graduating as Master of Laws. From 1958 to 1972 he was appointed at the Office of the Attorney General of Norway, from 1961 barrister with access to working with Supreme Court cases. In 1973 he was appointed judge at Oslo District Court. He served as acting Consumer Ombudsman from 1974 to 1975. In 1976 he was back at Oslo District Court, and was then appointed director of the Norwegian Competition Authority from 1977 to 1983. SS Donau (1929)
SS ''Donau'' was a Norddeutscher Lloyd refrigerated cargo ship. In the Second World War the Kriegsmarine used it as a transport ship between Germany and Norway. She became known as the "slave ship" after the SS and Gestapo transported 540 Jews from Norway to Stettin, from where they were taken by train to Auschwitz. Only nine of those deported on the ''Donau'' survived. History ''Donau'' was built in Hamburg for Norddeutscher Lloyd of Bremen and completed in 1929. At 9,035 gross register tons she was large for her time, and she was unusual amongst cargo ships for being powered by both a triple expansion steam engine and a steam turbine. ''Donau'' was requisitioned for war service under the command of Kriegsmarine-Dienststelle Hamburg and equipped with anti-aircraft weaponry and depth charges. Egil Bakke (27 September 1927 – 16 July 2022) was a Norwegian civil servant. Life and career Egil Bakke was born in Horten. Having graduated as cand.oecon. Rolf Ingvar Semmingsen (August 13,1908 –May 1, 1979) was a Norwegian civil servant. He was born in Stor-Elvdal in Hedmark, Norway. He was the son of Martin Semmingsen (1875–1964) and Anne Strand (1874–1961). Having graduated as cand.jur., he was hired as assistant secretary in the Norwegian Price Directorate (''Konkurransetilsynet'') in 1940. In 1946 he was promoted to assistant director under Wilhelm Thagaard. He worked as director of the cooperative Coop NKL (''Norges Kooperative Landsforening'') from 1949 to 1960, but returned to the Price Directorate to serve as director from 1961 to 1977. In 1994 the Norwegian Price Directorate was restructured as the Norwegian Competition Authority. Hans Petter Lundgaard (born 15 May 1935) is a Norwegian jurist born in Oslo. Career He was employed as a university lector at the University of Oslo from 1963, and took over as leader of the Norwegian Bureau for Insurance Disputes in 1971. In 1973 the position of Norwegian Consumer Ombudsman was created. Inger Louise Valle held the position for many years, but while she was a member of the cabinet Nordli from 1976 to 1981 Lundgaard was acting Norwegian Consumer Ombudsman. Inger Louise Valle
Inger Louise Valle (28 November 1921 – 21 May 2006) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party, particularly noted for her efforts to reform the Norwegian penal system. She is the mother of professor Jan Grund. Biography She represented Akershus in the Norwegian Parliament in the period between 1977-1981. She also served as Minister of Administration and Consumer Affairs 1971-1972 and Minister of Family and Consumer Affairs in 1972, Minister of Justice and the Police 1973-1976 and 1976–1979, and Minister of Local Government Affairs 1979-1980.
