Rolf Semmingsen
Rolf Ingvar Semmingsen (August 13,1908 –May 1, 1979) was a Norwegian civil servant. He was born in Stor-Elvdal in Hedmark, Norway. He was the son of Martin Semmingsen (1875–1964) and Anne Strand (1874–1961). Having graduated as cand.jur., he was hired as assistant secretary in the Norwegian Price Directorate (''Konkurransetilsynet'') in 1940. In 1946 he was promoted to assistant director under Wilhelm Thagaard. He worked as director of the cooperative Coop NKL (''Norges Kooperative Landsforening'') from 1949 to 1960, but returned to the Price Directorate to serve as director from 1961 to 1977. In 1994 the Norwegian Price Directorate was restructured as the Norwegian Competition Authority. He was married to historian Ingrid Semmingsen Ingrid Elisabeth Semmingsen (29 March 1910 in Hamar, Hedmark – 31 May 1995) was a Norwegian historian. Stor-Elvdal
Stor-Elvdal is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Østerdalen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Koppang. Other villages in the municipality include Atna, Evenstad, and Sollia. The municipality is the 28th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Stor-Elvdal is the 262nd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,318. Hedmark
Hedmark () was a county in Norway before 1 January 2020, bordering Trøndelag to the north, Oppland to the west, Akershus to the south, and Sweden to the east. The county administration is in Hamar. Hedmark and Oppland counties were merged into Innlandet county on 1 January 2020, when Norway's former 19 counties became 10 bigger counties / regions Hedmark made up the northeastern part of Østlandet, the southeastern part of the country. It had a long border with Sweden to the east (Dalarna County and Värmland County). The largest lakes were Femunden and Mjøsa, the largest lake in Norway. Wilhelm Thagaard
Wilhelm Thagaard (31 October 1890 – 1 December 1970) was a Norwegian jurist and civil servant. He was born in Kristiania. He chaired Prisdirektoratet over two periods, a total of twenty years. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany Thagaard was a member of "Kretsen", a leading body of the Norwegian Resistance Movement. A special law from 1945, "Lex Thagaard", was named after him. Coop Norge SA is a Norwegian cooperative. It is owned by 117 local cooperatives with approximately 2 million members. The company has its headquarters in Oslo. History The first cooperative store in Norway was opened in the 1850s and, on 27 June 1906, a group of 28 cooperatives formed the NKL (''Norges Kooperative Landsforening'', "Norwegian Cooperative Association") to act as a wholesaler for its members. Ingrid Semmingsen
Ingrid Elisabeth Semmingsen (29 March 1910 in Hamar, Hedmark – 31 May 1995) was a Norwegian historian. Appointed as a professor at the University of Oslo in 1963, she was the first female professor of history in Norway. Personal life Semmingsen was born in Hamar, as the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel and farmer Peter Thorvald Gaustad (1878–1949) and his wife Gudvor, née Todderud (1884–1956). She grew up at a farm in Stange. In 1939 she married Rolf Ingvar Semmingsen, a bureaucrat who served as director of the Norwegian Price Directorate. Career Semmingsen took the cand.philol. degree in 1935 with a paper on the lower class in her native Hedmark from 1850 to 1900. She appeared in radio programs with popular singer Alf Prøysen, who came from a such social background. Her grandfather and great-grandfather had both been involved in the Marcus Thrane movement. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. Charles Philipson
Charles Philipson (5 October 1928 – 26 September 1990) was a Norwegian jurist, civil servant (acting Consumer Ombudsman, and director of the Norwegian Competition Authority), and Supreme Court justice. Career Philipson graduated as jurist in 1952. From 1952 to 1953 he was assigned secretary in the Norwegian Price Directorate, and was then assistant judge in Lier, Røyken and Hurum. He then conducted further studies at Harvard Law School, graduating as Master of Laws. From 1958 to 1972 he was appointed at the Office of the Attorney General of Norway, from 1961 barrister with access to working with Supreme Court cases. In 1973 he was appointed judge at Oslo District Court. He served as acting Consumer Ombudsman from 1974 to 1975. In 1976 he was back at Oslo District Court, and was then appointed director of the Norwegian Competition Authority from 1977 to 1983.
