Chanaka-Korata Barrage
Chanaka-Korata Barrage is an inter-State barrage on Penganga River. The irrigation project started jointly by Government of Telangana and Government of Maharashtra in March 2016. It will irrigate agriculture in the states of Telangana and Maharashtra. The project is expected to be completed in 2 years, by kharif of 2018. History The irrigation project was first conceived in 1975 but never started Neckar of its location in two states and also court cases by villages going to be submerged. The work, part of Lower Penganga, began in April 2016 at a cost of Rs.1227 crores. Barrage (dam)
A barrage is a type of low-head, diversion dam which consists of a number of large gates that can be opened or closed to control the amount of water passing through. This allows the structure to regulate and stabilize river water elevation upstream for use in irrigation and other systems. The gates are set between flanking piers which are responsible for supporting the water load of the pool created. The term '' barrage'' is borrowed from the French word "barrer" meaning "to bar". Dam construction Barrage dams have a series of gates that control the amount of water passing through it. A barrage dam can be used to divert water for irrigation needs or limit the amount of water down-stream. In most cases, a barrage dam is built near the mouth of the river. Penganga River
The Painganga River (also known as the Penganga River) is the chief river of the Buldhana district, Hingoli district, Nanded district, Yavatmal district, Chandrapur district and Washim district in the Maharashtra state in India. It flows along the southeast boundaries of the district in a winding, meandering course. It is deeply entrenched and difficult to navigate. The Government of Telangana also known as Telangana Government, is the governing authority of the state of Telangana in India. It consists of an executive, a judiciary and a legislative. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (born 17 February 1954), often referred to by his initials KCR, is an Indian politician serving as the first and current Chief Minister of Telangana since 2 June 2014.
