''Carpa de La Reina'' ("tent of the queen") is a collective album released on the EMI Odeón label (LDC-36581) in the middle of 1966. The collective is led by Violeta Parra with other artists invited to her popular art center in the La Reina commune in northwest Santiago. Violeta Parra
Violeta del Carmen Parra Sandoval (; 4 October 1917 – 5 February 1967) was a Chilean composer, singer-songwriter, folklorist, ethnomusicologist and visual artist. She pioneered the Nueva Canción Chilena (The Chilean New Song), a renewal and a reinvention of Chilean folk music that would extend its sphere of influence outside Chile. Her birthdate (4 October) was chosen "Chilean Musicians' Day". In 2011, Andrés Wood directed a biopic about her, titled ''Violeta Went to Heaven'' (Spanish: ''Violeta se fue a los cielos''). Odeon Records
Odeon Records is a record label founded in 1903 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of the International Talking Machine Company in Berlin, Germany. The label's name and logo come from the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris. History Straus and Zuntz bought the company from Carl Lindström that he had founded in 1897. They transformed the Lindström enterprise into a public company, the Carl Lindström A.G. and in 1903 purchased Fonotipia Records, including their Odeon-Werke International Talking Machine Company. ''Recordando a Chile'', also known as ''Una Chilena en París'', is an album from Violeta Parra released on the EMI Odeón label (LDC-36533) in the summer of 1965. It was recorded during Parra's stay in Santiago between August 14 and October 21, 1964, and after her return from Europe in approximately August 1965. Tracks 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, and 11 were recorded in stereo and are believed to be from the 1965 sessions. The album cover features artwork by Violeta Parra. Isabel Parra provided percussion and additional vocals on track 4 and chorus on tracks 2 and 6. Angel Parra provided guitar and chorus on tracks 2 and 6. Nicanor Parra recited the words on track 1. ''Las últimas composiciones'' ("the last compositions") is an album by Violeta Parra released on the RCA Victor label (CML-2456) in November 1966. It was Parra's final album, as she committed suicide in February 1967. The album contains 14 songs, including three of Parra's most enduring songs, "Gracias a la Vida", " Volver a los Diecisiete", and " Run-Run Se Fue Pa’l Norte". Uruguayan singer, Alberto Giménez Zapicán, sings duets with Parra on tracks 4, 6, 7, and 11, and "bombo" on additional tracks. Angel Parra plays guitar on tracks 1, 3, 10, and 13, and drumming on the guitar on track 7. Isabel Parra drums on the guitar on track 7 and plays bells on track 13. The album cover features a photograph of Parra by Javier Pérez. The original release included a four-page insert with the song lyrics. La Reina (Spanish: "The Queen") is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region created in 1963 from an eastern portion of the Ñuñoa commune.
