Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. In addition, it is one of eight constituencies in the Mid and West Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Boundaries 1999 to 2007 The constituency was created for the first election to the Assembly, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Westminster constituency. It was a Dyfed constituency, one of five constituencies covering, and entirely within, the preserved county of Dyfed. The other four Dyfed constituencies were Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, Ceredigion, Llanelli and Preseli Pembrokeshire. They were all within the Mid and West Wales electoral region. Senedd
The Senedd (; ), officially known as the Welsh Parliament in English and () in Welsh, is the devolved, unicameral legislature of Wales. A democratically elected body, it makes laws for Wales, agrees certain taxes and scrutinises the Welsh Government. It is a bilingual institution, with both Welsh and English being the official languages of its business. Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire ( cy, Gorllewin Caerfyrddin a De Sir Benfro) is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Senedd constituency was created with the same boundaries in 1999 (as an Assembly constituency). Boundaries The constituency was created in 1997 from parts of the former marginal seats of Pembroke and Carmarthen. Main population areas in the seat include the towns of Carmarthen, Pembroke Dock, Pembroke and Tenby. Saundersfoot and Dylan Thomas' homestead of Laugharne are also within the constituency. Cilymaenllwyd
Cilymaenllwyd is a community on the extreme northwest of Carmarthenshire in Wales. The community population at the 2011 census was 742. It lies about west of Carmarthen, southeast of Fishguard and northwest of Haverfordwest. The A478 road runs through the community. Location and demographics Cilymaenllwyd has an area of 2,628 hectares and had a population of 725 in 2003. The western edge of the community borders Pembrokeshire. The community is bordered by the communities of Llanboidy and Henllanfallteg in Carmarthenshire, and by Clynderwen, Mynachlog-ddu and Crymych in Pembrokeshire. The River Tâf forms the eastern boundary. The area is part of the foothills of the Preseli Mountains rising to an altitude of 248 metres and is dissected by deep valleys of the Tâf and its tributaries. Carmarthen (, RP: ; cy, Caerfyrddin , "Merlin's fort" or "Sea-town fort") is the county town of Carmarthenshire and a community in Wales, lying on the River Towy. north of its estuary in Carmarthen Bay. The population was 14,185 in 2011, down from 15,854 in 2001, but gauged at 16,285 in 2019. Bronwydd
Bronwydd is a village and a community in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales, situated about three miles north of Carmarthen in the valley of the River Gwili. Bronwydd community comprises the village of Bronwydd Arms, a couple of nearby hamlets and a number of working farms in the surrounding area. In Census 2011, it had a population of 564. Bronwydd Arms railway station is a halt on the Gwili Railway. Cwmgwili mansion, home to a prominent local family, the Philipps, has 17th century features and is a grade II* listed building. Bronwydd Arms was one of six broadband "not-spots" in Wales - communities without high-speed internet access. In December 2008, the Welsh Assembly Government and BT confirmed that coverage in these areas would be upgraded in April 2009. Abernant is a community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The population taken at the 2011 census was 297. Location Abernant is a small hamlet located four miles north west of the traditional county town of Carmarthen.
