CHEV
CHEV was a Canadian radio station, which formerly broadcast at 1610 kHz in Toronto, Ontario. A low-power AM station licensed primarily to broadcast special events, the station became best known for airing junior hockey games. History In 1997, BAF Audio Visual Incorporated of Scarborough was given approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to launch the station. As an unprotected low-power station, CHEV was forced to vacate the 1610 frequency in 2004 when the San Lorenzo Latin American Community Centre was awarded the frequency for CHHA, a new Spanish community radio station, although the CRTC renewed CHEV's license conditional on the station finding a new frequency. Grand Falls-Windsor
Grand Falls-Windsor is a town located in the central region of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with a population of 13,853 at the 2021 census. The town is the largest in the central region, the sixth largest in the province, and is home to the annual Exploits Valley Salmon Festival. The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization which documents the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television. Since 1995, the organization has distributed its collection via an internet website. VOCM (AM)
VOCM is an AM radio station in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, broadcasting at 590 kHz. Owned by Stingray Group, VOCM first went on the air on October 19, 1936. Through the "VOCM/Big Land FM Radio Network" of stations owned by Stingray, VOCM programming is carried throughout the province. VOCM and its sister station VOCM-FM are among the four radio stations in Canada having call signs beginning with the prefix VO, the ITU prefix issued to the Dominion of Newfoundland before its confederation into Canada in 1949. The other two, VOWR and VOAR-FM, also broadcast in St. John's; all but VOCM-FM predate the confederation.
