William Jackson (born 1970, Lincolnshire) is an English international indoor and lawn bowler. Career He was the winner of the 2006 and 2007 World Indoor Pairs title (with David Gourlay) and the 2009 singles title at the World Indoor Bowls Championships. He also won the WBT Super Bowls title in 2014 at Blackpool Newton Hall. Since 1998 he has competed for England 54 times at indoor international level. World Indoor Bowls Championships
The World Indoor Bowls Championship is an international bowls competition held annual at Potters holiday park in Hopton on Sea. The last week of the competition is televised live on BBC where the open singles and open pairs', women's singles and mixed pairs' finals are shown. History The competition was first held in 1979 in Coatbridge, Scotland as a men's singles only event. The first event was sponsored by Embassy Cigarettes. In 1986, the men's pairs competition was added to the championship. In 1988, a rule change allowed women to compete for the first time and the women's singles competition was created. This rule change also changed expanded the men's singles and pairs competition and both become open tournaments. In 1989, the championships moved to the Guild Hall in Preston, England And Churchill Insurance took over the sponsorship. David Gourlay
David Gourlay is a Scottish (and former Australian) international lawn & indoor bowler from the Prestwick Bowling Club and Crookston Bowling Club. He is also a Commonwealth Games medal winning coach. Bowls career Gourlay, a Glaswegian, first took up the game aged 11 following the success of his father David Gourlay Sr. at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and his mother Sarah Gourlay at the 1985 World Outdoor Championships. He has won 15 World Bowls Tour Titles with the highlight being the World Indoor Singles title in 1996. He represented Scotland at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He is related to the Scottish footballers James Gourlay and Jimmy Gourlay.
