Barly Baruti
Baruti Kandolo Lilela, better known by his pen name Barly Baruti (born December 9, 1959, in Kisangani, in what was then the Congo-Léopoldville), is a Congolese (DRC) cartoonist. He has been described by the British Broadcasting Corporation as "the Congolese author best known outside his country". He studied pedagogy, then worked at the graphics studio of the French Cultural Centre in Kisangani. There, in 1982, he wrote and drew his first published comic, ''Le Temps d'agir'' (''Time to Act''), on environmental issues. In 1984, having won a comics competition, he was invited to study comics writing in Angoulême (France), then in 1987 worked for a few months at the Studios Hergé in Brussels. He returned to Congo, where he published several albums, then moved to Belgium in 1992. In 1994, the Cultural Centre in Kisangani published his album ''Objectif Terre!'' Kisangani
Kisangani (formerly Stanleyville or Stanleystad) is the capital of Tshopo province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the fifth most populous urban area in the country, with an estimated population of 1,312,000 in 2021, and the largest of the cities that lie in the tropical woodlands of the Congo. Some from the mouth of the Congo River, Kisangani is the farthest navigable point upstream. Frank Giroud (3 May 1956 – 13 July 2018) was a French comics writer. Early life Giroud was born on May 3, 1956 in Toulouse, France. He graduated from the École Nationale des Chartes, and he passed the agrégation in History. Career Giroud taught History in Milan and Grenoble. Giroud was a comics writer. He wrote the text for '' Louis la Guigne'', drawn by Jean-Paul Dethorey. He also wrote the text for ''Mandrill'', drawn by Barly Baruti, as well as ''Oubliés d’Annam'' and ''Azrayen'', drawn by Christian Lax. In 2000, he created '' Le Décalogue'', published by Glénat Editions.
