Buurdhuubo
Burdhubo ( so, Buurdhuubo) is a town in the southern Gedo region of Somalia. It is the center of the Burdhubo District. Overview Burdhubo sits on the Jubba River in the Jubba Valley, between the cities of Bardera and Luuq. Garbahaarreey, the Gedo region's capital, is situated just away from Burdhubo. The town's inhabitants cultivate crops on farms along the banks of the river. Other residents lead a pastoral lifestyle, herding camels, cattle, goats and sheep. Since the early 1990s, Burdhubo has also seen new business activities and population growth. In March 2014, Somali Armed Forces assisted by an Ethiopian battalion with AMISOM captured the town from Al-Shabaab. The offensive was part of an intensified military operation by the allied forces to remove the insurgent group from the remaining areas in southern Somalia under its control. Burdhubo District
Burdhubo District, also spelled Buurdhuubo, is a Administrative divisions of Somalia, district in the southwestern Gedo region of Somalia. Its capital is Burdhubo. The terrorist group Al-Shabaab (militant group), Al-Shabaab has operated in the district in recent years. On 4 November 2011, some of its members kidnapped ten district clan elders. On 6 January 2012, Voice of America reported that the Somali media had stated that government troops, backed by Kenyan forces, were advancing into the area, while "al-Shabab" had withdrawn from the district. Gedo ( so, Gedo, Maay Maay, Maay: ''Gethy'', ar, جيذو, it, Ghedo or ''Ghedu'') is an administrative region (''States and regions of Somalia, gobol'') in Jubaland, southern Somalia. Its regional capital is Garbahaarreey. Sheep or domestic sheep (''Ovis aries'') are domesticated, ruminant mammals typically kept as livestock. The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) was a regional peacekeeping mission operated by the African Union with the approval of the United Nations Security Council. It was mandated to support transitional governmental structures, implement a national security plan, train the Somali security forces, and to assist in creating a secure environment for the delivery of humanitarian aid. Somali Armed Forces
The Somali Armed Forces are the military forces of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
