Busoni is a town and seat of the Commune of Busoni, Kirundo Province in northern Burundi. History Ricard Ngabonziza was appointed the new adminstrator of the Commune of Busoni in December 2023. Provinces Of Burundi
Burundi is divided into eighteen provinces, each named after their respective capital with the exception of Bujumbura Rural. Burundi’s provinces and communes were created on Christmas Day in 1959 by a Belgian colonial decree. They replaced the pre-existing system of chieftains. In 2000, the province encompassing Bujumbura was separated into two provinces, Bujumbura Rural and Bujumbura Mairie.Eggers, p. xlix. The newest province, Rumonge, was created on 26 March 2015 from portions of Bujumbura Rural and Bururi. In July 2022, the government of Burundi announced a complete overhaul of the country’s territorial subdivisions. Kirundo Province
Kirundo Province is one of the eighteen provinces of Burundi. Kirundo has three big lakes: Cohoha, Rweru, and Rwihinda. Lakes Cohoha and Rweru are located in commune Busone, and Lake Rwihinda is in commune Kirundo. Kirundo is the capital city of province Kirundo. Busoni is a Communes of Burundi, commune of Kirundo Province in northern Burundi. The seat lies at Busoni, Burundi, Busoni. Location The Commune of Busoni has an area of and had a population of 145,424 as of the 2008 census. It is in the north of Kirundo Province, bordering Rwanda to the north. The northeast is covered by the southern part of Lake Rweru, which extends north into Rwanda and east into the Commune of Giteranyi. Kabanga, Kirundo Province
Kabanga is a village and a ''colline'' in the Commune of Busoni, Kirundo Province, Burundi. Location Kabanga is on the RP 61 road from Busoni to the west, and is in the northeast of the Commune of Busoni. It is southeast of the south end of Lake Kanzigiri, situated to the northeast of Kabanga, which drains north into Lake Rweru. It lies at the juncture of routes 63 and 314, northeast of Busoni, and south of Nyagisozi. Health center There is a health center in Kabanga. It uses solar panels, with storage and an AC converter, to supply power for lights, medical equipment and refrigeration. It served a target population of 22,936 as of 2017.
