Bumba Tapajos
''Bumba tapajos'' is a tarantula in the genus '' Bumba''. It was first described by Lucas, Passanha and Brescovit in 2020. The species is named after where it was found, in the Tapajós area in Brazil. Description Its color has only been described in ethanol. The cephalothorax and legs are red brown, the abdomen dorsally black and ventrally grayish. Its male palpal bulb has the embolus shorter than the tegulum. Habitat The tarantula lives near the tapajos river in the Tapajós National Forest, where its mainly rainforest. In this area average annual rainfall is 1,820 millimetres, and the temperatures range from 21 to 31 °C. The forest along the banks of the Tapajós has elevations of about 100m above sea level. Bumba (spider)
''Bumba'' is a genus of tarantula native to the Americas. It is an uncommon genus, comprising eight known species, including one named after John Lennon. Like most related species in the subfamily Theraphosinae, they may flick urticating hairs in response to threats. Diagnosis They can be distinguished by the type 5 urticating hairs, and the palpal bulb resting in a "ventral distal excavation" of the pedipalp's tibia. The metatarsus number 1 passes between two branches of the tibial apophysis when flexed and the presence of spine like hairs on the maxillae and coxae 1 through 4. Taxonomy The genus was first described in 2000 by Fernando Pérez-Miles under the name ''Iracema''; however this name was already in use for a genus of freshwater fish, so in 2005, Pérez-Miles proposed the replacement name ''Maraca''. The Tapajós ( pt, Rio Tapajós ) is a river in Brazil. It runs through the Amazon Rainforest and is a major tributary of the Amazon River. When combined with the Juruena River, the Tapajós is approximately long. It is one of the largest clearwater rivers, accounting for about 6% of the water in the Amazon basin. Palpal Bulb
The two palpal bulbs – also known as palpal organs and genital bulbs – are the copulatory organs of a male spider. They are borne on the last segment of the pedipalps (the front "limbs" of a spider), giving the spider an appearance often described as like wearing boxing gloves. The palpal bulb does not actually produce sperm, being used only to transfer it to the female. Palpal bulbs are only fully developed in adult male spiders and are not completely visible until after the final moult.
