Bosnia And Herzegovina In The Eurovision Song Contest 1997
Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 in Dublin, Ireland. Alma Čardžić represented Bosnia and Herzegovina with the song "Goodbye". They finished in an 18th place out of 25 countries with 22 points. Bosnia and Herzegovina shared this placement with Germany, as the tie-breaking rule at the time only affected the first place. Before Eurovision Bosnia and Herzegovina had low average score over the previous four years, and so would have to withdraw, however Israel declined to participate, as the contest was held on its Holocaust Remembrance Day, so their place was awarded to Bosnia and Herzegovina, who ultimately competed. Alma Čardžić (; born 10 March 1968) is a Bosnian singer, best known internationally for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contests in 1994 and 1997. Biography Born in Maglaj she demonstrated a flair for music even as a child. When she was 15 years old, she was judged the best amateur at the ''Studentsko ljeto'' (Student Summer) festival. In 1992, she competed in Jugovizija 1992, with the song ''Ljubav će pobijediti'' where she achieved 10th place, and in 1993, she competed in the ''Bosanskohercegovačko takmičenje za pjesmu Evrovizije'' (Bosnia and Herzegovina Competition Song Contest) where she was placed second with the song ''Svi na ulice'' (Everybody on the street). Milić Vukašinović
Milić Vukašinović ( sr-cyr, Милић Вукашиновић; born 9 March 1950) is a Yugoslav musician, the founder of the hard rock band Vatreni Poljubac as well as one-time drummer of the famous Yugoslav rock bands Bijelo Dugme and Indexi. A rock'n'roll pioneer in the city of Sarajevo where he spent his formative years, Vukašinović is also known for his composing and songwriting work with some of the biggest Yugoslav commercial folk music stars such as Hanka Paldum and Toma Zdravković. Sinan Alimanović (born 11 February 1954) is a Bosnian jazz pianist, organist, composer, conductor, arranger and educator. Biography Sinan Alimanović has worked with American and European jazz musicians such as Randy Brecker, Harvie S, Duško Gojković, Erich Kleinschuster, Alex Blake, Victor Lewis, Barbara Hendricks, Gianni Basso, Aladar Pege, Vaclav Zahradnik, Lee Harper, Csaba Deseo, Jim Mullen, Robert Balzar, Jože Privšek, Miljenko Prohaska, Tony Lakatos, Tony Fisher, Ladislav Fidri, Stjepko Gut, Petar Ugrin, Bobby Sanabria and many others. Safet Plakalo (4 March 1950 – 19 March 2015) was a prominent Bosnian playwright, journalist, theatre critic and a founder of Sarajevo War Theatre (SARTR). He was one of the few South Slavic writers of poetic dramatic orientation. His unique dramatic expression integrated the precise poetic form of a sonnet deeply into a dramatic form. Bosnia and Herzegovina has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 19 times since making its debut in 1993, after coming second in the qualification round "Kvalifikacija za Millstreet".
