Blanka Tunnel Complex
Blanka Tunnel Complex is a part of the inner Prague Municipal Ring Road. It is the longest road tunnel in the Czech Republic and the longest city tunnel in Europe. The complex connects the area west of Prague Castle with Trója district in the northeast. Its length is about 5.5 km and consists of three tunnels: ''Bubenečský, Dejvický'' and ''Brusnický''. The tunnel complex was designed to relieve the historic center of Prague from heavy traffic. In a first 49-month period it was used by 139 million cars, according to official statistics. Controversies During the construction there were three landfalls, two times in the Stromovka park, which created a hole on the ground of the park, with a diameter of 15 to 25 meters, and once at garden area of the Ministry of Culture in Hradčany. D0 Motorway (Czech Republic)
D0 motorway ( cs, Dálnice D0), formerly R1 expressway ( cs, Rychlostní silnice R1), or Prague Ring Road ( cs, Pražský okruh), also called the outer ring road, is a motorway in the Czech Republic. It is an outer ring of Prague and its first segment was opened in the 1980s. There is also an inner Prague Municipal Ring Road, which is still under construction as well. 40 km, from the planned length 80 km, are in operation. Two disjunct sections are opened to the public, one going all the way from the Ruzyně Airport to the interchange with the D1 highway, the other one being a road on the eastern border of Prague. A section connecting these two segments is to be built next. Střešovice
Střešovice is a neighborhood of green, quiet, village-like streets in the west of Prague. It is located in the Prague 6 district. Střešovice is often called the "local Beverly Hills" because it has been home to some famous residents, including Czech President Václav Havel. The neighborhood is a 10-minute walk from Prague Castle, and the Dejvice district. The major sights include Villa Müller by functionalist architect Adolf Loos (1930) and The Church of St Norbert in Romanesque Revival (1890-1891) style. Pavel Bém
Pavel Bém (born 18 July 1963) is a Czech physician and politician. Between 28 November 2002 and 30 November 2010 he served as the Mayor of the Capital City of Prague, and re-elected in 2006. On 19 November 2006 he was elected Deputy Leader of the Civic Democratic Party. Bém studied medicine at the Charles University, specializing in psychiatry and subsequently devoted most of his medical career to the treatment of drug addiction. He served on a government anti-narcotics commission. Stromovka
Stromovka (Royal Game Reserve) is a large park in the Bubeneč district of Prague. It sits on the floodplain of the river Vltava. At present, it spreads over an area of 95 hectares. It was established in the thirteenth century as a game reserve for the nearby summerhouse. At the beginning of the 19th century, it was converted into a park, which later in the 19th and 20th centuries was reduced by the construction of railways, the building of the Academy of Fine Arts and the Planetarium, a ship canal, and last but not least by the construction of the exhibition ground.
