Big Brother Africa 9
''Big Brother Africa 9'' (also known as ''Big Brother Africa: Hotshots'') was the ninth and final season of the ''Big Brother Africa'' reality television series produced by Endemol for M-Net. Production of Season 9 had to be put on hold as the Big Brother house in Highlands North, Johannesburg burnt down. No one was injured in the blaze, which currently has an unknown cause. Producers found and revamped a house for the season nearby in "7th Street" and launched a shorter season of only 63 days on October 5, 2014. Ikponmwosa "IK" Osakioduwa came back to host the show for the sixth time in a row. Format There were twenty six housemates this season and were living in the same house. The housemates were competing for US$300,000. This year, thirteen countries participated in the season. Each country had two representatives for them. Big Brother Africa
''Big Brother Africa'' is the African version of the international reality television franchise ''Big Brother'' created by producer John de Mol in 1997. The show was first aired in 2003 for one season on M-Net and broadcast to audiences in 42 African countries. In 2007, the show was back from four-year hiatus, until it got cancelled after season nine in 2014. The African version initially involved 12 countries within Africa (Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe) with two countries (Ethiopia and Mozambique) being added in season 4 and two other countries (Liberia and Sierra Leone) being added in season 7 while Rwanda was added in season 9. Each country provides at least one contestant living in an isolated house while trying to avoid being evicted by viewers and ultimately winning a large cash prize at the end of the show. Big Brother Africa (season 5)
''Big Brother Africa 5'' (also known as ''Big Brother Africa: All-Stars'') was the fifth season of the ''Big Brother Africa'' reality television series produced by Endemol. The season premiered on Sunday, July 18, 2010 and was broadcast by M-Net and M-NetAfrica for 91 days, concluding on October 17, 2010 when Nigeria's Uti was crowned the ultimate winner. Each week the Housemates nominated two of their own and the public voted to either save or evict them until only 5 Housemates remained on finale night. The grand prize for this season was initially $200,000, however, due to the strike that took place on Day 6, the grand prize was decreased by ten percent meaning that the winner will now receive $180,000. Big Brother Africa 3 is the third series of the ''Big Brother Africa'' reality television show produced by Endemol. The season began airing on 24 August 2008 and run 91 days ending 23 November 2008. As with the previous series, the show involves 12 countries within Africa (Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe) each producing a contestant living in an isolated house in Johannesburg, South Africa, while trying to avoid being evicted by viewers and ultimately winning a large cash prize at the end of the show. Format In this season, there were twenty-eight housemates who lived in two houses – The Ruby House and The Diamond House. Each week, two housemates would swap houses for the upcoming week until the merge was reached. The housemates were competing for US $300,000. This season, 28 participants from fourteen countries participated in the series.
