Bhogavo River is a river in Gujarat, India. It is a major right tributary of the Sabarmati River. The city of Surendranagar is on the banks of the Bhogavo. Dholidhaja Dam is located on the river. The film Guide's climax was shot in the town of Limbdi, 90 km from Ahmedabad on the Bhogavo River. Gujarat
Gujarat (, ) is a state along the western coast of India. Its coastline of about is the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula. Surendranagar Dudhrej is a municipality in Surendranagar district in the Indian States and territories of India, state of Gujarat. Dudhrej municipality is directly connected with Wadhwan city and Wadhwan municipality. Etymology Dudhrej was originally a nes (Hamlet (place), hamlet) settled by the Charanas. One ''Shastam Swami'' wanted a temple to be built on the bank of the tank, so he started a shrine. Dholi Dhaja (White Flag) Dam, across the Bhogavo River, is located near Surendranagar city and in the urban area of Surendranagar Dudhrej Municipality in the state of Gujarat, India. Purpose It provides drinking and utility water to 300,000 to 400,000 people of Surendranagar, Wadhwan, Joravarnagar, and Ratanpar. Guide (film)
''Guide'' is a 1965 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Vijay Anand and produced by Dev Anand, who co-starred in the film with Waheeda Rehman. Based on R. K. Narayan's 1958 novel ''The Guide'', the film narrates the story of the freelance guide Raju (Anand) and his meeting with Rosie (Rehman), who is the wife of a wealthy archaeologist. A 120-minute U.S. version titled ''The Guide'' was written by Pearl S. Buck and directed and produced by Tad Danielewski. For the US version, Devanand had insisted that Waheeda Rehman be cast as a heroine, but his advice was not heeded to. This version flopped badly in America. Limbdi
Limbdi is a taluka in Surendranagar district in the Indian state of Gujarat. History The area formed a part of the 9-gun salute state during the British Raj, when it was governed by members of a Jhala dynasty. Limbdi Satyagrah During the Satyagraha, the people of Limbdi formed a "Praja Mandal" on 24 December 1938, which caused friction between the king and the people of Limbdi. In 1939, a conference was held by "Praja Mandal", which the king did not like and he created a huge uproar at the conference. Many people were wounded during this incident. Many people felt disheartened and started migrating from Limbdi to other cities. In 1940, after death of Sir Dolatsingh, Sir Digvijay became the ruler. He could rule for only four months, as he died shortly after his coronation. The last ruler of Limbdi was his son, Sir Chhatrapalsingh, from 1941 to 1948. Lothal
Lothal () was one of the southernmost sites of the ancient Indus Valley civilisation, located in the Bhāl region of the modern state of Gujarāt. Construction of the city is believed to have begun around 2200 BCE. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the official Indian government agency for preservation of ancient monuments, discovered Lothal in 1954. Excavation work in Lothal commenced on 13 February 1955 and continued till 19 May 1960. According to the ASI, Lothal had the world's earliest known dock, which connected the city to an ancient course of the Sabarmati river on the trade route. This trade route stretched between Harappan cities in Sindh and the peninsula of Saurashtra where the surrounding Kutch desert of today was a part of the Arabian Sea.
