Beach Handball World Championships
The IHF Beach Handball World Championships is an international beach handball competition contested by the men's and women's national teams of the member federations/associations of International Handball Federation (IHF), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was established in 2004, taking place every two years to allow continental tournaments to flourish without the burden of the World Championship qualifiers crowding the schedule every 12 months. The current tournament format lasts over approximately 6 days and involves 16 teams initially competing in four groups of four teams. The group winners and runners-up advance to a series of knock-out stages until the champion is crowned. The losing semi-finalists play each other in a play-off match to determine the third and fourth-placed teams. The most recent edition was held in Kazan (Russia), and crowned Brazil as champions defeating defending champions Croatia by 2–0 in the final of men's category. Debutants Greece ...

International Handball Federation
The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. IHF is responsible for the organisation of handball's major international tournaments, notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1957. IHF was founded in 1946 to oversee international competitions. Headquartered in Basel, its membership now comprises 209 national federations. Each member country must each also be a member of one of the six regional confederations: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Caribbean, Oceania, and South and Central America. The 2020 Men's Beach Handball World Championships would have been the ninth edition of the tournament. Originally scheduled for 30 June to 5 July 2020 in Pescara, Italy, the tournament was planned to be rescheduled and moved to another host country, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2016 Beach Handball World Championships
The 2016 Beach Handball World Championships was a twelve-team tournament in both men's and women's beach handball, held at Budapest, Hungary from 12 to 17 July 2016. It was the seventh edition of the event. Croatia and Spain took home gold in the men's and women's event, both after defeating Brazil in the final. Format The twelve teams were split into two groups of six teams. After playing a round-robin, the three top ranked team advanced to the main round. Every team kept the points from preliminary round matches against teams who also advance. In the main round every team had three games against the opponents they did not face in the preliminary round. The top four teams advanced to the semifinals.
