Heinrich Bartels
Heinrich Bartels (13 July 1918 – 23 December 1944) was an Austrian-born German fighter pilot in the ''Luftwaffe'' and fought during World War II. Bartels was credited with 99 victories, making him a fighter ace. A fighter ace is a military aviator credited with shooting down five or more enemy aircraft during aerial combat. Born in Austria in 1918 and working as a baker to his late teenage years Bartels joined the ''Luftwaffe'' after Germany's union with Austria in 1938. Bartels completed his training as a pilot in 1941. He was assigned to ''Jagdgeschwader'' 26 "Schlageter" (JG 26—26th Fighter Wing) on the Channel Front which was tasked with intercepting Royal Air Force (RAF) incursions over occupied France and Belgium. He achieved his first aerial victory in August 1941. Fin Bartels (born 7 February 1987) is a German former professional footballer who played either as midfielder or as a striker. Club career Early career Bartels began his career at TSV Russee and later played for SpVgg Eidertal Molfsee before joining Holstein Kiel in 2002. In 2005 Bartels moved up to Holstein Kiel II. Carel Hendrik Bartels (29 September 1792 – 10 February 1850) was the wealthiest and most important Euro-African trader and businessman on the Dutch Gold Coast in the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Apart from his entrepreneurial activities, Bartels was also a judge and member of the colonial government in Elmina, making him one of the most important men in town. Bartels has an entry in Hutchison's '' The Pen-Pictures of Modern Africans and African Celebrities''. The American historian Larry W. Adolph Heinrich Friedrich Bartels (29 July 1819 – 9 November 1878) was a German-born Australian politician. He was Mayor of Adelaide 1871–1873. History Bartels was born in Gilten, Hannover. He grew up in humble circumstances, and trained as a cigarmaker in Hamburg. Knud Bartels (8 April 1952) is a retired Danish general, who served as the Danish Chief of Defence between 2009 and 2011 and was Chairman of the NATO Military Committee from 2011 to 2015. Cornelius Ludewich Bartels (unknown – 18 April 1804) was a military and colonial officer of German origin employed by the Dutch West India Company. He rose through the ranks and eventually became Governor-General of the Dutch Gold Coast in 1798. Julius Bartels (17 August 1899, Magdeburg – 6 March 1964) was a German geophysicist and statistician who made notable contributions to the physics of the Sun and Moon; to geomagnetism and meteorology; and to the physics of the ionosphere. Francis Lodowic Bartels (13 March 1910 – 20 March 2010) was a Ghanaian diplomat and educationalist, who served as Ghana's ambassador to West Germany between 1970 and 1972.
