Badhal
''Badhal'' is a 1996 Maldivian comedy drama film directed by Hamid Ali. Produced by Hussain Rasheed under Farivaa Films, the film stars Hamid Ali, Hussain Sobah, Niuma Mohamed and Waleedha Waleed in pivotal roles. The film was released on 9 October 1996. Premise Hussain (Hussain Sobah), a teenage boy with an immature attitude was restricted from attending his father's death anniversary held to honor his last wish of handing over the business to Hussain. Hussain's uncle, Wafir (Hamid Ali), humiliated by Hussain's presence in the party storm off at him when his plan of acquiring the business property backfires. A physiologist suggested Hussain to marry someone who is endearing and caring to obliterate the childhood trauma caused by Wafir's abuse. Niuma Mohamed
Niuma Mohamed (pronounced ; 20 October 1977) is a Maldivian film actress, director, and producer. The highest-paid actress in Maldives, Mohamed is the recipient of several awards, including two Gaumee Film Awards, and four Maldives Film Awards. She holds the record for collecting all three Maldives Film Awards for Best Actress in a feature film. In 2011, the Government of Maldives honoured her with the National Award of Recognition. Hussain Sobah (11 November 1972) is a Maldivian film actor, music composer and playback singer. Career In 1995, Sobah featured in Mohamed Shiyaz's '' Dhushman'' alongside Mariyam Nisha, Aminath Rasheedha and Hamid Ali in pivotal roles. Waleedha Waleed is a Maldivian film actress, choreographer, director, seamstress and politician. Career In 1989, at the age of fourteen, Waleedha Waleed made her screen debut with a video single directed by Musthafa Hussain. She went on to feature in several other video songs and films. Waleed had most recognition for her songs included in the ''Vasmeeru'' album, which was produced by ''Television Maldives''. In an interview with ''Avas'', Waleed mentioned; "What made me go a long way in my career is the belief that people cheer me as a good dancer though I am not trained in any dance style". Moosa Manik commonly known as Chilhiya Moosa Manik (30 January 1940 – 24 August 2021) was a Maldivian film actor and writer. Early life In 1977, while studying at Majeediyya School, Manik participated in the theatre play performed to celebrate the Golden jubilee of Majeediyya School. He then joined several other theatre performances as a hobby though his first priority lies in sketching and drawing, followed by writing. His most notable performance as a theatre artist includes his role as Viyazor; the administrative chief of the Portuguese kingdom who invaded and ruled over Maldives. Abdul Hannan Moosa Didi (13 June 1959) is a Maldivian singer, music composer and producer. Early life and career At the age of seventeen, Didi started performing casually with his friends which helped him develop self-confidence and improve his singing capabilities. Mohamed Rashad
Mohamed Rashad (1952 – 2002) also referred as Madhaha Rashad was a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Rashad was born in 1952 in Male'. His father, Qasim Hussain was famously known for locals as "Naivaadhoo Kasim" and "Reendhoo Kasim". His mother, Hawwa Idhurees was a homemaker. He had one brother as a sibling and ten others as half-siblings including notable local artists, Ali Rameez, Ibrahim Rameez and Rafiyath Rameeza. At a very young age, persuaded by his "undying love for music", Rashad was accompanied by the music group "Maafannu Fiyaathoshi Club" to lift and transport their music instruments.
