Doomben Racecourse
Doomben Racecourse is a horse racing venue in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is located in the suburb of Ascot, 7 kilometres north of the Brisbane central business district. The Doomben course neighbours another thoroughbred venue called the Eagle Farm Racecourse and can be accessed via car, train or bus. Together with Eagle Farm, these courses are considered the two major racecourses in South East Queensland, and can be seen sharing irrigation systems and some of Brisbane Racings feature events. Equine influenza (horse flu) is the disease caused by strains of influenza A that are enzootic in horse species. Equine influenza occurs globally, previously caused by two main strains of virus: equine-1 (H7N7) and equine-2 (H3N8). The OIE now considers H7N7 strains likely to be extinct since these strains have not been isolated for over 20 years. Snitzel (foaled 24 August 2002) is a Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse and successful stallion, having sired over 100 individual stakes winners. King's Legacy (foaled 1 September 2017) is a multiple Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. Background King's Legacy was the third highest priced lot sold at the 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. He was purchased by James Harron Bloodstock for $1.4 million. Racing career 2019/20: two-year-old season King's Legacy began his racing career in a mid-week maiden at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse finishing in third placing. The colt then started at the odds of 5/1 in the B J McLachlan Plate at Eagle Farm Racecourse. Under the guidance of jockey Kerrin McEvoy the horse won by a margin of half a length. As a result of this win, King's Legacy gained a start in the Magic Millions Classic for two-year-olds a fortnight later. He finished in 5th placing.
