Snitzel (foaled 24 August 2002) is a Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse and successful stallion, having sired over 100 individual stakes winners. Background Bred by Francois Naude from the stakes-winning Snippets mare Snippets’ Lass, Snitzel was purchased for A$260,000 by his trainer Gerald Ryan for owners Damion and Camilla Flower at the 2004 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. Racing career 2004/05: two-year-old season Snitzel won his first three starts as a spring 2YO, including the Listed Breeders' Plate, and progressed to win the Skyline Stakes in February 2005. Snitzel started the short priced favourite for the 2YO Magic Millions Classic and Golden Slipper Stakes however he was unsuccessful in both races. 2005/06: three-year old season Snitzel tasted Group 1 success as a three-year-old when successful in the Oakleigh Plate at the odds of 10/1. Redoute's Choice
Redoute's Choice (15 August 1996 – 26 March 2019) was a multiple Group One-winning Australian Thoroughbred racehorse and also a champion sire. He is by the phenomenal international sire Danehill (USA) out of the lightly raced mare Shantha's Choice (Canny Lad-Dancing Show). His dam is a half-sister to the Group One winners Hurricane Sky (by Star Watch) and Umatilla (by Miswaki (USA)), and later produced the Group One winners Platinum Scissors (also by Danehill) and Manhattan Rain (by Encosta De Lago). Racing career Redoute's Choice was raced by his breeder, Sri Lankan businessman Muzaffar Ali Yaseen, and trained by Rick Hore-Lacy. The Doomben 10,000 is a Brisbane Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred Weight for Age horse race, run over a distance of 1200 metres at Doomben Racecourse, Brisbane, Australia during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival. Total prize money is A$1,000,000. The race is considered one of the premier sprint races in Queensland racing. History The race was changed to the Doomben 10,000 after the £10,000 prize money on offer, which at the time was the richest sprint in Australia. Notable sprinters to win the race are Chief De Beers (1995, 1998), Falvelon (2001-02), Prince Trialia in 1990–91, and Black Onyx in 1969–70. Redzel
Redzel (foaled 19 September 2012) is an Australian thoroughbred racehorse. He races in the Triple Crown Syndicate silks for a group of owners who bought into the gelding as a yearling. Redzel is known around the stables as Richie after the New Zealand Rugby player, Richie McCaw. Snowden Racing foreman, Lindy Wharekura is originally from New Zealand and came up with the name "after the greatest ever Captain, of the greatest ever team". The hashtag #richiefortheeverest trended on social media leading into the inaugural Everest Race largely thanks to the popular following Redzel has amongst the Snowden stable staff. Redzel was purchased from the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale by Triple Crown Syndicate directors Chris and Michael Ward for $120,000. He is out of the mare, Millrich and by Snitzel. Sweet Idea (September 22, 2010 –) is a Thoroughbred racehorse who was bred in Australia. On retirement in April 2015, Sweet Idea was the richest mare her age (or younger) in the world. She is the most successful horse in Magic Millions of all time, having placed second in the two-year-old Gold Coast Magic Millions (2012) and going on to win the three-year-old Gold Coast Magic Millions (2013) – no horse has ever won both races. The W. S. Cox Plate is a Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for horses aged three years old and over under Weight for age conditions, over a distance of 2040 metres (approximately 1m 2f), that is held by the Moonee Valley Racing Club at Moonee Valley Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in late October. Shamus Award (foaled 2010) is an Australian thoroughbred racehorse, and winner of the 2013 Cox Plate. He is notable for being the only horse in the history of the race to win it as a maiden. Shamus Award was sired by Snitzel (horse), Snitzel out of Sunset Express and was trained by Danny O'Brien (racehorse trainer), Danny O'Brien. Early career Shamus Award made his racing debut at Moonee Valley Racecourse on the same day as the 2012 Cox Plate running 3rd in a two year old's race. He placed 3rd in his next two races before entering his first Group One race, the 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes where as a 100/1 shot he ran an eye catching 5th.
