Abbott Elementary
''Abbott Elementary'' is an American mockumentary sitcom television series created by Quinta Brunson for ABC. It stars Brunson as a second-grade teacher at Abbott Elementary, a fictional predominantly Black school in Philadelphia. The ensemble cast includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis. The series premiered as a midseason entry in the 2021–22 television season on December 7, 2021, and was met with critical acclaim; the show's first season was nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards, winning three. A mockumentary (a blend of ''mock'' and ''documentary''), fake documentary or docu-comedy is a type of film or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. These productions are often used to analyze or comment on current events and issues by using a fictional setting, or to parody the documentary form itself. While mockumentaries are usually comedic, pseudo-documentaries are their dramatic equivalents. However, pseudo-documentary should not be confused with docudrama, a fictional genre in which dramatic techniques are combined with documentary elements to depict real events. James Goldman (born May 17, 1948), known professionally as Jim Gardner, is an American retired news anchor. Early life and education Gardner was born in New York City and grew up on the Upper East Side in a Reform Jewish household. His father was Joseph Goldman, a professor and chairman of the ear, nose and throat department of Mount Sinai Medical Center. The School District of Philadelphia (SDP) is the school district that includes all school district-operated public schools in Philadelphia. Established in 1818, it is the 8th largest school district in the nation, by enrollment, serving over 200,000 students. The school board was created in 1850 to oversee the schools of Philadelphia.
