Aagot Nissen
Aagot Nissen (née Kavli; May 2, 1882 – December 16, 1978) was a Norwegian actress. Biography She was born in Bergen, Norway. She was the daughter of Kristoffer Kavli (1845–1888) and Agnes Texnes (1851–1937). She was the sister of painter Arne Kavli (1878–1970) and was married to pianist Karl Nissen (1879–1920). She made her stage debut in 1899 at Oslo's National Theatre. She worked continuously for the National Theatre until she retired in 1950. She was the only actor that worked continuously for more than fifty seasons at the National Theatre from its start in 1899. According to historian Nils Johan Ringdal, Nissen was the most employed actress at the National Theatre from the theatre's establishment, with a total of more than 200 assigned tasks. Among her favorite roles was the "princess" in various forms, both in ordinary plays and in children's plays. The National Theatre in Oslo ( no, Nationaltheatret) is one of Norway's largest and most prominent venues for performance of dramatic arts. History The theatre had its first performance on 1 September 1899 but can trace its origins to Christiania Theatre, which was founded in 1829. Karl Nissen
Karl Nissen (February 27, 1879 – May 14, 1920) was a Norwegian pianist, teacher, music journalist, and conductor. Nissen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), the son of the physician Oscar Nissen and pianist Erika Nissen, and he was taught piano by his mother. He first performed publicly at one of his mother's concerts in 1897. Nissen studied under Ferruccio Busoni in Berlin, and made concert trips to Berlin, Prague, Antwerp, Odessa, and several places in Scandinavia. He then settled down in his hometown and gave concerts that included, among others, the actress Gyda Christensen from 1908 to 1910. He also gave a number of duo concerts together with pianists Nils Larsen and Fridtjof Backer-Grøndahl, including Mozart's double concerto for two pianos. Arne Kavli
Arne Kavli (27 May 1878 – 23 September 1970) was a Norwegian painter. Biography Kavli was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the son of actor Kristoffer Kavli (1845–1888) and Agnes Texnes (1851–1937). He was the brother of actress Aagot Nissen. He was married three times; in 1903 with Tulla Larsen (1869–1942); in 1911 with Hildur Mønniche (b. 1883) and in 1925 with Thony Drude Isachsen (b. 1897). From his first marriage, he was the brother-in-law of businessman and sailer Alfred Waldemar Garmann Larsen. Kavli debuted at the Autumn Exhibition (''Høstutstillingen'') in Oslo during 1896. ''Himmeluret'' (The Clock of Heaven or The Celestial Clockwork) is a Norwegian silent film from 1925 directed by Amund Rydland and Leif Sinding. Sinding also wrote the screenplay, which is based on Gabriel Scott's comedy ''Himmeluret'' (play 1905, novella 1908). David Knudsen, Gunvor Fjørtoft, and Hjalmar Fries appeared in the main roles. Footage described as a "closeup of a naked woman" (''naken kvinne forstørret'') was cut from the film by censors. The film is now considered lost.
