Himmeluret
''Himmeluret'' (The Clock of Heaven or The Celestial Clockwork) is a Norwegian silent film from 1925 directed by Amund Rydland and Leif Sinding. Sinding also wrote the screenplay, which is based on Gabriel Scott's comedy ''Himmeluret'' (play 1905, novella 1908). David Knudsen, Gunvor Fjørtoft, and Hjalmar Fries appeared in the main roles. Footage described as a "closeup of a naked woman" (''naken kvinne forstørret'') was cut from the film by censors. The film is now considered lost. Plot In Rørland, the ship owner Gutter Fladen is the dominant personality in the town. His daughter Nina has just returned from Paris, and she spends the spring evenings with her childhood love Salve, a skipper on Gutter's boat ''Haabet''. Lars Tvinde
Lars Tvinde (11 September 1886 – 25 June 1973) was a Norwegian stage and film actor. Biography Tvinde was born at Voss in Hordaland, Norway. He was the son of Knut Haldorsen (1843–1927) and Eli Jørgensdotter Leidal (1842–1927). He attended Voss folkehøgskule and for eight years, he worked for his uncle at a store in Vossevangen. He also appeared at amateur theater in Bergen. He started working for Det Norske Teatret in Oslo during 1912. He said the first lines at the theatre's opening performance, Ivar Aasen's ''Ervingen'', on 2 January 1913. He is regarded as one of the driving forces at Det Norske Teatret, from its first season until his retirement in 1958. During his time on stage, he created memorable characters in both comic and the tragic roles. He also had a number of roles in film. Leif Sinding
Leif Sinding (19 November 1895 – 13 May 1985) was a Norwegian film director and journalist. He worked for the newspapers ''Verdens Gang'', ''Aftenposten'', and ''Morgenbladet''. Among his silent films are ''Himmeluret'' from 1925, based on Gabriel Scott's comedy, and ''Fjeldeventyret'' from 1926. He directed the film ''Bra mennesker'' (1937), based on a play by Oskar Braaten, and the films ''De vergeløse'' (1939) and ''Tante Pose'' (1940), both based on novels by Gabriel Scott. In 1941 he directed the comedy '' Kjærlighet og vennskap''. During the German occupation of Norway Sinding collaborated with the Axis forces, was a member of Nasjonal Samling, and was sentenced to four years forced labour after the war. Aagot Nissen
Aagot Nissen (née Kavli; May 2, 1882 – December 16, 1978) was a Norwegian actress. Biography She was born in Bergen, Norway. She was the daughter of Kristoffer Kavli (1845–1888) and Agnes Texnes (1851–1937). She was the sister of painter Arne Kavli (1878–1970) and was married to pianist Karl Nissen (1879–1920). She made her stage debut in 1899 at Oslo's National Theatre. She worked continuously for the National Theatre until she retired in 1950. She was the only actor that worked continuously for more than fifty seasons at the National Theatre from its start in 1899. According to historian Nils Johan Ringdal, Nissen was the most employed actress at the National Theatre from the theatre's establishment, with a total of more than 200 assigned tasks. Born in the village of Alversund, Lindås municipality in Hordaland, he made his stage debut at Det Norske Teatret in 1913, and served as the theatre's director from 1916 to 1922. Johanne Voss
Johanne Voss (née Paulsen, January 13, 1868 – July 27, 1946) was a Norwegian actress from Bergen. Family Johanne Voss was the daughter of the carpenter Peter Olay Paulsen and Johanne Severine Jørgensen, and the sister of the actress Anna Paulsen (1858–1895). On October 24, 1891, she married the actor Olav Voss (1864–1912) in Bergen. Eugen Skjønberg
Conrad Eugen Skjønberg (March 27, 1889 – July 25, 1971) was a Norwegian actor. Eugen Skjønberg was married to the actress Henny Skjønberg. They resided at Ramstad. He was the father of Per Skjønberg, Pål Skjønberg, and Espen Skjønberg, and the grandfather of Hennika Skjønberg, Siv Skjønberg, and Jo Skjønberg, all of whom were actors and actresses. Skjønberg started his career in the banking industry in Kragerø and Skien, but in his twenties he was discovered in the amateur theater by a dance teacher, who recommended him to Alma Fahlstrøm in 1913. Martin Gisti (December 9, 1889 – January 18, 1971) was a Norwegian actor. He made his film debut in '' Kaksen paa Øverland'' in 1920. Together with Amund Rydland, he wrote the script for the 1922 film '' Farende folk''. Reidar Lund (3 June 1897 – 19 March 1978) was a Norwegian cinematographer. Filming his first sports event at Frogner stadion in 1920, Lund participated as a cameraman on expeditions to Novaya Zemlya in 1921 and Alaska in 1924. He was a cinematographer for his first motion picture in 1925, ''Himmeluret'', and was especially active between 1938 and 1946, with films such as ''Hu Dagmar'' (1939), ''Godvakker-Maren'' (1940), ''Jeg drepte!'' Gabriel Scott
Gabriel Scott (8 March 1874 – 9 July 1958) was a Norwegian poet, novelist, playwright and children's writer. Personal life Gabriel Scott Jensen was born in Leith in Scotland as the son of sailors' priest Svend Holst Jensen and his wife writer and composer Caroline Mathilde Schytte. The name Scott was originally a first name, and he was named after both Scotland and the writer Walter Scott. He moved to Norway when he was seven years old, his father being a parish priest in Høvåg. In 1901, Scott married Ellen Johansen (1871–1914), but this marriage was dissolved in 1912. In 1915, he married secondly Dagmar Marie Jensen, but in 1918 this marriage also ended in divorce. Finally, in 1918, he married Birgit Gabrielsen (1897–1981). He died in Arendal in 1958.
