Aranfaybo
''Aranfaybo'' is a work of classical music scored for chamber orchestra written by the Spanish composer and pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez. ''Aranfaybo'' was one of the gods in the mythology of the Bimbaches, aborigines of the island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands. Aranfaybo literally means "the one who produces rain". The Bimbaches offered animal sacrifices to invoke ''Aranfaybo'' in times of drought. Together with '' Ymarxa'', '' Ayssuragan'', '' Chigaday'', '' Azaenegue'', '' Erbane'' and '' Guanapay'', ''Aranfaybo'' is part of a cycle of seven orchestral works inspired in different places of each of the Canary Islands. Gustavo Díaz-Jerez
Gustavo Díaz-Jerez (27 February 1970, Tenerife) is a Spanish pianist and composer. Biography Gustavo Díaz-Jerez studied piano with J. A. Rodriguez at the Conservatorio Superior of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and subsequently with Solomon Mikowsky at Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, South America, the UK and the US. He has collaborated with conductors such as Ivan Fischer, Victor Pablo, Gunther Herbig, Adrian Leaper, José R. Encinar, etc., with orchestras such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra, as well as the major Spanish orchestras (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Galicia, Nacional de Cataluña, Castilla y León, Sinfónica de Madrid). Bimbache
Bimbache or Bimbape is the name given to the inhabitants of El Hierro, who inhabited the island before the Spanish conquest of the Canary Islands that took place between 1402 and 1496. The Bimbache are one of several peoples native to the Canaries, with a genetic and cultural link to the Berber people of North Africa. The Bimbache people shared a common link with other aboriginal peoples of the Canary Islands. The island of El Hierro was known to the Bimbache as Eseró or Heró. The word ''"Bimbache"'' means ''"Sons of the Sons of Tenerife"'', so were believed to be descendants of the Guanches, the ancient inhabitants of the island of Tenerife. It also referred to a place in Tenerife in what today is La Esperanza forest. ''Chigaday'' is an orchestral piece of classical music by the Spanish composer and pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez. ''Chigaday'' refers to a rocky formation in the Canary Island of La Gomera where, according to writer and historian Benito Pérez Armas, in 1488 during the Spanish conquest of the Canary Islands, the last islanders who resisted decided to kill themselves before surrendering to the enemy troops. Algorithmic composition is the technique of using algorithms to create music. Algorithms (or, at the very least, formal sets of rules) have been used to composer, compose music for centuries; the procedures used to plot Voice leading, voice-leading in Western counterpoint, for example, can often be reduced to algorithmic determinacy. The Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife (OST, "Tenerife Symphony Orchestra") is an orchestra in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra is considered one of the best symphony orchestras in Spain. Founded as the ''Orquesta de Cámara de Canarias'' in 1935, it became a symphony orchestra in 1970.
