''Ymarxa'' is an orchestral piece of classical music by the Spanish composer and pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez. ''Ymarxa'' is a guanche word meaning 'new', 'brilliant', 'splendid'. It also referred to a place in Tenerife in what today is La Esperanza forest. Together with '' Ayssuragan'', ''Aranfaybo'', '' Chigaday'', '' Azaenegue'', '' Erbane'' and '' Guanapay'', ''Ymarxa'' is part of a cycle of seven orchestral works inspired in different places of each of the Canary Islands. Chigaday
''Chigaday'' is an orchestral piece of classical music by the Spanish composer and pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez. ''Chigaday'' refers to a rocky formation in the Canary Island of La Gomera where, according to writer and historian Benito Pérez Armas, in 1488 during the Spanish conquest of the Canary Islands, the last islanders who resisted decided to kill themselves before surrendering to the enemy troops. Together with ''Ymarxa'', ''Ayssuragan'', ''Aranfaybo'', '' Azaenegue'', '' Erbane'' and '' Guanapay'', ''Chigaday'' is part of a cycle of seven orchestral works inspired in different places of each of the Canary Islands. Gustavo Díaz-Jerez
Gustavo Díaz-Jerez (27 February 1970, Tenerife) is a Spanish pianist and composer. Biography Gustavo Díaz-Jerez studied piano with J. A. Rodriguez at the Conservatorio Superior of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and subsequently with Solomon Mikowsky at Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, South America, the UK and the US. He has collaborated with conductors such as Ivan Fischer, Victor Pablo, Gunther Herbig, Adrian Leaper, José R. Encinar, etc., with orchestras such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra, as well as the major Spanish orchestras (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Galicia, Nacional de Cataluña, Castilla y León, Sinfónica de Madrid). Aranfaybo
''Aranfaybo'' is a work of classical music scored for chamber orchestra written by the Spanish composer and pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez. ''Aranfaybo'' was one of the gods in the mythology of the Bimbaches, aborigines of the island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands. Aranfaybo literally means "the one who produces rain". The Bimbaches offered animal sacrifices to invoke ''Aranfaybo'' in times of drought. Algorithmic composition is the technique of using algorithms to create music. Spectral Music
Spectral music uses the acoustic properties of sound – or sound spectra – as a basis for composition. Definition Defined in technical language, spectral music is an acoustic musical practice where compositional decisions are often informed by sonographic representations and mathematical analysis of sound spectra, or by mathematically generated spectra. The spectral approach focuses on manipulating the spectral features, interconnecting them, and transforming them. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is a British symphony orchestra based in London, that performs and produces primarily classic works. The RPO was established by Thomas Beecham in 1946. In its early days, the orchestra secured profitable recording contracts and important engagements including the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the concerts of the Royal Philharmonic Society. After Beecham's death in 1961, the RPO's fortunes declined steeply.
