Andrew Chatwood
Andrew Chatwood (3 July 1932 – 3 August 2014) was a Canadian administrator and politician. Chatwood was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was an administrative supervisor by career. He was first elected at the Grand Falls—White Bay—Labrador riding in a 19 September 1966 by-election, but defeated there in the 1968 federal election by Ambrose Peddle Ambrose Hubert Peddle (8 October 1927 – 10 March 2014) was a Canadian politician. Dominion Of Newfoundland
Newfoundland was a British dominion in eastern North America, today the modern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It was established on 26 September 1907, and confirmed by the Balfour Declaration of 1926 and the Statute of Westminster of 1931. It included the island of Newfoundland, and Labrador on the continental mainland. Newfoundland was one of the original dominions within the meaning of the Balfour Declaration and accordingly enjoyed a constitutional status equivalent to the other dominions of the time. In 1934, Newfoundland became the only dominion to give up its self-governing status, which ended 79 years of self-government. The 1968 Canadian federal election was held on June 25, 1968, to elect members of the House of Commons of Canada of the 28th Parliament of Canada. In April 1968, Prime Minister Lester Pearson of the Liberal Party resigned as party leader as a result of declining health and failing to win a majority government in two attempts. He was succeeded by his Minister of Justice and Attorney General Pierre Trudeau, who called an election immediately after becoming prime minister. Ambrose Hubert Peddle (8 October 1927 – 10 March 2014) was a Canadian politician. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Peddle worked for Newfoundland Railway from 1945 to 1947 and Customs & Excise from 1947 to 1949. From 1949 to 1951, he worked for the Government of Canada's Unemployment Insurance Commission. From 1951 to 1963, he was a sales manager at a retail furniture and appliances store. From 1963 to 1975, he was the owner of Small Business Enterprises. From 1961 to 1966, he was Mayor of Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (PC; french: Parti progressiste-conservateur du Canada) was a centre-right federal political party in Canada that existed from 1942 to 2003.
