Andrei Mikalajevič Aramnaǔ ( be, Андрэй Мікалаевіч Арамнаў, born 17 April 1988) is a Belarusian weightlifter, Olympic and World Champion. Career Andrei was born with six fingers on one hand, but had one removed in 2002 before his coach allowed him to train for the European Championships. He won silver in the 94 kg category at the 2006 Junior World Championships, with a total of 393 kg. At the 2007 Junior World Championships he won gold in the 105 kg category, with a total of 407 kg. Aramnau became world champion in the 105 kg category at the 2007 World Championships, with a total of 423 kg. At the 2008 Summer Olympics he won the gold medal in the 105 kg category with world records in the snatch with 200 kg, in the clean and jerk with 236 kg, and with a total of 436 kg. Clean And Jerk
The clean and jerk is a composite of two weightlifting movements, most often performed with a barbell: the clean and the jerk. During the ''clean'', the lifter moves the barbell from the floor to a racked position across the deltoids, without resting fully on the clavicles. During the ''jerk'', the lifter raises the barbell to a stationary position above the head, finishing with straight arms and legs, and the feet in the same plane as the torso and barbell. Of the several variants of the lift, the most common is the Olympic clean and jerk, which, with the snatch, is contested in Olympic weightlifting events. 2018 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2018 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 1 to 10 November 2018. The logo of IWF World Championships 2018 has consisted of abstract illustration of weightlifting athlete designed by Ashgabat based design firm, Belli Creative Studio This was the first World Championship, after the IWF changed their weight classes and nullified all world records. Weightlifting At The 2008 Summer Olympics
Weightlifting competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China were held from August 9 to August 19. Competitions were conducted at the Beihang University Gymnasium. The medal records at the 2008 Games were heavily amended following re-analysis of competitors samples in 2015, 2016 and 2017. 26 lifters were disqualified as a result of these tests, including 16 medalists and four lifters who stood to inherit forfeited medals.
