Amphibious Reconnaissance And Patrol Unit
The Amphibious Reconnaissance and Patrol Unit (ARP) () is an elite special operations component of the Republic of China Marine Corps. Overview ARP members are known as frogmen and have a similar mission set to the United States Navy SEALs. The entire ROC Marine Corps is considered an elite force, and the ARP is the most elite unit within the Marines. The ARP operates both reconnaissance and underwater demolition teams. New members of the Coast Guard's Special Task Unit undergo three months of training with the ARP followed by two months with the Republic of China Military Police Special Services Company. The Republic of China Marine Corps (ROCMC; ), also known colloquially as the Taiwan Marine Corps, is the amphibious arm of the Republic of China Navy (ROCN) responsible for amphibious combat, counter-landing and reinforcement of the areas under the jurisdiction of the Republic of China (ROC), including the island of Taiwan, Kinmen, and the Matsu Islands, and defense of ROCN facilities, also functioning as a rapid reaction force and a strategic reserve capable of amphibious assaults. Armed (May, 1941–1964) was an American Thoroughbred gelding race horse who was the American Horse of the Year in 1947 and Champion Older Male Horse in both 1946 and 1947. Thunder Squad () is a special services unit of the National Police Agency in Taiwan, a highly trained SWAT unit established in 1985 to conduct high-risk arrests and other dangerous law enforcement duties. This 200 man group is organized into small four-man elements, three of which make up an operating group. The Airborne Special Service Company (ASSC; ), alternatively known as the Liang Shan Special Operations Company (), is an elite special forces unit belonging to the Republic of China Army (Taiwan Army). The ASSC is the most elite unit in Taiwan, they are reportedly based in Taiwan Pingtung County and tasked with carrying out special operations, including decapitation strikes in the event of a war. Composition The ASSC reportedly is composed of approximately 150 personnel, and was founded around 1980. It is similar to the US Army's Delta Force and the British Army's Special Air Service. Republic of China Military Police Special Services Company (MPSSC; ; Code-named: ''Night Hawks'') is a unit of the military police of the Republic of China (Taiwan). This unit is stationed at Wugu, Taipei. Little is known about this unit, since informations regarding it are classified by the Ministry of National Defense. It was formed in 1978. According to the Taipei Times the MPSSC has a standing collaboration with United States Army Special Forces which includes regular joint exercises. Overview The Special Task Unit is an elite special forces, maritime rescue, and counterterrorism unit of the CGA.
