Amish Shah
Amish Shah is an American doctor, politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 5 since January 9, 2023. He previously represented District 24 from 2019 to 2023. Shah defeated incumbent State Representative Ken Clark. Shah was born in Chicago to immigrant parents from India. He received degrees from Northwestern University and the University of California, Berkeley. Congressional candidacy Shah announced his intention to run for U.S. Congress in in the 2024 elections on April 3, 2023. Arizona's 5th Legislative District is one of 30 in the state, consisting of a section of Maricopa County. As of 2023, there are 54 precincts in the district, all in Maricopa, with a total registered voter population of 126,361. The district has an overall population of 239,088. Following the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC) redrew legislative district boundaries in Arizona. Lela Alston (born June 26, 1942) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate representing District 24 since January 14, 2019. Brianna Westbrook (born November 24, 1984) is an American transgender rights activist who is a vice-chair and executive committee member of the Arizona Democratic Party. A former political director of Equality Arizona, she is the first transgender person to be elected as a vice-chair of a state Democratic Party. Sarah Liguori (born 1983) is an American politician who served as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from the 28th legislative district from 2021 to 2023. She was appointed to the seat after incumbent Representative Aaron Lieberman resigned to run for governor. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
