''Alfa Nero'' is a super yacht built in 2007, and has been considered one of the largest private motor yachts. In March 2022, it was reported by ''Forbes'' that it was registered in the Cayman Islands at 267 feet, with a value of $81 million. In 2022, Forbes reported that the ship was owned by Andrey Guryev. On Friday June 16, 2023, ''Alfa Nero'' was sold to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt for $67.6 million dollars during an auction by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, after it had been abandoned there following the imposition of economic sanctions as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Schmidt pulled out of the purchase due to lawsuits over title to the yacht. Since the botched sale, Guryev's daughter Yulia Guryeva- Motlokhov, has filed a suit claiming that she is the vessel's true owner, that it was never abandoned, and that the yacht's seizure and sale violated procedure. Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus ( ; born Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus; 15 December AD 37 – 9 June AD 68), was the fifth Roman emperor and final emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, reigning from AD 54 until his death in AD 68. He was adopted by the Roman emperor Claudius at the age of 13 and succeeded him on the throne. Nero was popular with the members of his Praetorian Guard and lower-class commoners in Rome and its provinces, but he was deeply resented by the Roman aristocracy. Alexei Motlokhov (russian: Алексей Мотлохов) (born 1981/82) is a London-based Russian hedge fund manager, and the son-in-law of Russian oligarch Andrey Guryev. Early life Alexei Motlokhov is the son of Vladimir Motlokhov, who works for the Russian fertilizer giant, PhosAgro (controlled by Andrey Guryev), and was vice-governor of the Murmansk region from 2000 to 2008, where PhosAgro mines its phosphate.
