Alan Woodrow
Alan Donald Woodrow (born 1952) is a Canadians, Canadian operatic tenor. Born in Toronto, Woodrow studied singing with George Lambert (baritone), George Lambert at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto before pursuing further studies at the London Opera Centre. On completing these studies he joined English National Opera (ENO) as a principal tenor and quickly developed into the dramatic voice type, fach. It is in this repertoire that he has emerged at an international level. The acclaim he generated in ''Martinu's Greek Passion'' at the Edinburgh Festival brought him to the attention of major European houses. Woodrow retains a highly productive relationship with ENO and Basel Opera. The Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele is an opera house and opera company located on the Piazza Verdi in Palermo, Sicily. It was dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II. It is the biggest in Italy, and one of the largest of Europe (at the time of its inauguration, it was - with its area of 7730 m² - the third largest opera house in Europe after the Palais Garnier in Paris, and the K. Bizet
Georges Bizet (; 25 October 18383 June 1875) was a French composer of the Romantic era. Best known for his operas in a career cut short by his early death, Bizet achieved few successes before his final work, '' Carmen'', which has become one of the most popular and frequently performed works in the entire opera repertoire. During a brilliant student career at the Conservatoire de Paris, Bizet won many prizes, including the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1857. He was recognised as an outstanding pianist, though he chose not to capitalise on this skill and rarely performed in public. Returning to Paris after almost three years in Italy, he found that the main Parisian opera theatres preferred the established classical repertoire to the works of newcomers. The Philharmonia Orchestra is a British orchestra based in London. It was founded in 1945 by Walter Legge, a classical music record producer for EMI.
