Al Ahly Women's Volleyball
Al Ahly Women's Volleyball Club ( ar, النادي الاهلي للكرة الطائرة للسيدات) is a part of f Al Ahly SC Club, which represents the club in Egypt and in major international volleyball competitions. The club has been based in Cairo since the 1940s'. The club broke many records and is the most crowned team in Egypt with a total of 64 titles including 34 league titles and 30 Egyptian Cups. Additionally, the club holds a record in Africa as the most crowned team with eight African Champions Cups and eight African Winners Cup Internationally. The club is the only team to surpass 30 domestic titles and 30 domestic cups. Al Ahly Sports Hall ( ar, صالة النادي الاهلي بالجزيرة) is one of Al Ahly SC club's buildings, and a multi-purpose arena in Cairo, Egypt. It is used by the Al Ahly (basketball), Al Ahly (handball), and Al Ahly (volleyball) sections of the club. History When Al Ahly started to create the teams of handball, basketball and volleyball, they saw it was important to build an arena to host the home matches of these teams, The first time they started to make the designs and searching for funds was 1978, and because of some funding problems the project was postponed. Opening ceremony After many year of waiting Al Ahly finally built its sports hall arena and on February 4, 1994 Al Ahly officially opened the hall in an opening ceremony. Doaa Elghobashy
Doaa Elghobashy ( ar, دعاء الغباشي; born November 8, 1996) is an Egyptian beach volleyball player. Career Elghobashy competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro alongside Nada Meawad in the beach volleyball competition. She and Meawad qualified for the Games by winning the CAVB Continental Cup held in Nigeria. The team turned heads in their first match against Germany as the team wore long sleeves and pants and Elghobashy wearing a hijab—an Olympic first in beach volleyball. The team was also Egypt's first ever Olympic team to compete in a beach volleyball tournament. Though Elghobashy and Meawad did not advance in the tournament, Elghobashy has become an inspiration for Muslim women, especially those in sports and who wear a headscarf, as she joined the ranks of the few Muslim women who compete in a headscarf.
