Al Ahly Sports Hall ( ar, صالة النادي الاهلي بالجزيرة) is one of Al Ahly SC club's buildings, and a multi-purpose arena in Cairo, Egypt. It is used by the Al Ahly (basketball), Al Ahly (handball), and Al Ahly (volleyball) sections of the club. History When Al Ahly started to create the teams of handball, basketball and volleyball, they saw it was important to build an arena to host the home matches of these teams, The first time they started to make the designs and searching for funds was 1978, and because of some funding problems the project was postponed. Opening ceremony After many year of waiting Al Ahly finally built its sports hall arena and on February 4, 1994 Al Ahly officially opened the hall in an opening ceremony. The ceremony started with a words from Al Ahly chairman Saleh Selim and declared that the name of the hall would be "Prince Abdalla El Faisl Hall". Al Ahly is an Egyptian basketball club, located in Cairo, Cairo Governorate, that plays in the Egypt Basketball Super League. Currently, two of its athletes play for the Egypt national basketball team. The team is part of the multi-sports club of the same name. The club has won six Egyptian Super League titles, eleven Egyptian Cup titles. Internationally, Al Ahly has won the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2016, and the Arabophone Championship in 2021. Al Ahly Handball Club ( ar, النادي الاهلي لكرة اليد) is one of Al Ahly SC, Al Ahly Sporting Club's sections that represent the club in Egypt as well as in international handball competitions. Al Ahly's Handball team was founded in 1959. The Al Ahly handball team has participated in the Egyptian Handball League since the beginning in 1960s until the present. Al Ahly Volleyball Club ( ar, النادي الاهلي للكرة الطائرة), also called "The Masters" ( ar, الماسترز) is one of Al Ahly SC club's sections that represent the club in Egypt and in international volleyball competitions. The club team section has been based in Cairo since 1932. Al Ahly volleyball team can be considered the greatest team in Africa and the Middle East. It has played in the Egyptian Volleyball League without interruption since 1957. Al Ahly is the most titled club in the Egyptian Volleyball league with 33 titles. Also, the team has participated in African Clubs Championship since 1980 and achieved the title 15 times. Saleh Selim
Saleh Selim ( ar, صالح سليم) (11 September 1930 - 6 May 2002) was the 10th president of the Egyptian Al Ahly Sporting Club. He also was a famous Egyptian football player and actor. He was nicknamed El Maestro because of his way of leading the Al Ahly football team to many victories. He then became the manager of the team, then member of the board of directors of the club. He finally became one of the most successful presidents of the club.
