Ahr Valley Railway
The Ahr Valley Railway (german: Ahrtalbahn), Remagen–Ahrbrück, is currently a 29 km-long, partly single-track and non-electrified branch line, which runs through the Ahr valley from Remagen via Ahrweiler and Dernau to Ahrbrück in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is served by Regionalbahn services on lines RB 30 and RB 39 ( Deutsche Bahn timetable route number 477). History The history of the Ahr Valley Railway begins as a branch line of the West Rhine Railway (''Linke Rheinstrecke''). This line was built up the Rhine from Cologne to Rolandseck via Bonn by the Bonn–Cologne Railway Company (''Bonn-Cölner Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'') between 1844 and 1856; it was extended to Bingerbrück via Remagen and Koblenz by the Rhenish Railway Company (''Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'') in 1858/59. Remagen Station
Remagen station is on the Left Rhine line (german: Linke Rheinstrecke) in the city of Remagen in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station is served by regular regional services as well as Intercity and EuroCity services. It is also the starting point of the Ahr Valley Railway (''Ahrtalbahn''). History The Left Rhine line from Cologne to Bonn was extended to Rolandseck in 1856 and through Remagen to Koblenz in 1858. The Remagen station building was built in 1860. Rolandseck station in Rolandseck near Remagen, Germany, built from 1856 to 1858, is considered an important part of the cultural heritage of the Rhineland and a significant early Germany railway building. It is the northernmost railway station on the West Rhine Railway in Rhineland-Palatinate. History The Bonn–Cologne Railway Company (') extended its line (later the West Rhine railway) from Cologne to Bonn on 15 February 1844. In 1846, the company had requested permission from the Prussian government to extend the line to Rolandseck, but had been refused for military reasons. Finally in 1853, the Prussian Cabinet gave it provisional permission to extend the line as far as Rolandseck. The Cross Eifel Railway (German: ''Eifelquerbahn'') is a non-electrified railway line between Andernach and Gerolstein in the Eifel in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Dümpelfeld–Lissendorf Railway
The Dümpelfeld–Lissendorf railway was a non-electrified branch line that lay mostly in what is now the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Only a few kilometres of the line near Ahrdorf station ran through North Rhine-Westphalia, which was created in 1946. History The railway line was planned together with the Jünkerath–Weywertz railway (also called the ''Vennquerbahn'', "Cross-Venn Railway") in 1900 as a strategic railway to connect the Ahr Valley Railway (''Ahrtalbahn'') with the Eifel Railway. The actual construction started in April 1909. On 30 June 1912, the 44 km route was opened, with the Dümpelfeld–Insul junction section built as a single-track line and the Insul junction–Jünkerath section built as a double-track line.
