Personal life Osman belongs to the Dhulbahante Harti Darod clan. Career Early career In 2009, Osman served as the Minister of Aviation of the autonomous Puntland state in northeastern Somalia. He later helped form Khatumo State administration, acting as one of its three "presidents". In 2013, Osman presented himself as a Vice President candidate in the 2014 Puntland elections, which took place on 8 January 2014 in Garowe. Abdihakim Abdullahi Haji Omar was eventually declared the winner. In 2019, Osman was elected as a Vice President of Puntland working underneath the newly elected president Said Deni. Harti (Darod)
Harti ( so, Harti, ar, هرتي), meaning "strong man", is a Somali clan family that is part of the Darod clan. The major sub-clans include the Majeerteen, Dhulbahante, Warsangali, Tinle, Maganlabe and Dishiishe, while other minor sub-clans consist of Kaskiqabe, Geesaguule and Liibaangashe. The clan settles the apex of the Horn of Africa and its peripheries, and in the south, the clan settles on both sides of the Kenya-Somalia border. Distribution The extended formal name of the Harti clan is Saleh Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti. The primary homeland of the Harti is the state of Puntland in northeastern Somalia. Said Abdullahi Deni (, ; born 1966 or 1967, also known as Said Deni, is the current president of Puntland. Previously, he served as the minister of planning of Somalia, after having been appointed to the position on 17 January 2014 by the prime minister, Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed. 2014 Puntland Presidential Election
The 2014 Puntland presidential election was held on 8 January 2014 in Garowe, the administrative capital of the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia. The third such vote to be held in the state since its formation in 1998, it followed the election of a new Parliament Speaker and Deputy Speakers on 4 January 2014 by the 66-seat regional legislature. The Darod ( so, Daarood, ar, دارود) is a Somali clan. The forefather of this clan was Sheikh Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti, more commonly known as ''Darood''. The Dhulbahante ( so, Dhulbahante, ar, دلبةنتئ) is a Somali clan family, part of the Harti clan which itself belongs to the largest Somali clan-family — the Darod. They are the traditional inhabitants of the physiographic Nugaal in its topographic sense, and its pre-independence administrative sense, which included Doollo.
