Abdelhafid Benchabla
Abdelhafid Benchabla ( ar, عبد الحفيظ بن شبلة; born 26 September 1986, in Zemmouri) is an Algerian amateur boxer. He represented Algeria at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, and the 2012 Summer Olympics and is the current World Series of Boxing Light heavyweight champion. Career At the Arab Championships 2007 he lost the semifinal to Mourad Sahraoui. At the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Benchabla won the silver medal after losing in the final to Ramadan Yasser of Egypt. In 2008, Benchabla qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing after beating Bastir Samir of Ghana at the AIBA African Olympic Boxing Qualifying Tournament 2008 in Algiers, Algeria. he beat Mourad Sahraoui of Tunisia in the final. Zhang Xiaoping ( zh, s=张小平, t=張小平, p=Zhāng Xiǎopíng; born April 1, 1982, in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia) is a Chinese amateur boxer of Mongol ethnicity who won a gold medal as a light heavyweight in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Boxing At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Light Heavyweight
The light heavyweight competition was the third-highest weight class featured in amateur boxing at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and was held at the Workers Indoor Arena. Light heavyweights were limited to a maximum of 81 kilograms in body mass. Like all Olympic boxing events, the competition was a straight single-elimination tournament. Both semifinal losers were awarded bronze medals, so no boxers competed again after their first loss. Bouts consisted of four rounds of two minutes each, with one-minute breaks between rounds. Punches scored only if the white area on the front of the glove made full contact with the front of the head or torso of the opponent. Five judges scored each bout; three of the judges had to signal a scoring punch within one second for the punch to score. Mourad Sahraoui ( ar, مراد الصحراوي) (born January 12, 1983) is an amateur boxer from Tunisia best known to win Gold in the heavyweight division at the 2007 All-African Games. Career Sahraoui failed to qualify for the 2004 Athens Games by ending up in third place at the 2nd AIBA African 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Gaborone, Botswana.
